    The power of a registrar?

A domain dropped that I wanted to register. I registered it last night, set the forwarding, and confirmed (about 45 minutes later) that it was forwarding to the site I wanted it to.

I thought it was a done deal.

I get up this morning and see an email - your registration failed because it was already registered. Huh??

Now, it is going to go to Snapnames auction in a few days.

    What the heck?

Godaddy typically goes to TDNAM about 100% of the time.

That sounds like a HUGE chunk of BULL! I am not sure how that can be possible. The ONLY way I can think of this happening is IF the original registrant suddenly renewed (or redeemed) the name. Still, that would not send it to auction.

Sorry, I think you meant did draggar register the name at GD.

If this is the case, YES...Godaddy makes these mistakes all the time and I have gotten several similar emails over the years.

Yes, it was GoDaddy but the domain did not go to TDNAM.

It is quite frustrating - so I guess I'll wait a week or two then.

I guess it was a drop, and it was caught by SN. A whois query should confirm that.

GoDaddy is not real-time, the dropped name must have been wrongly reported as available.
