    Moniker Privacy Fail

If your paying for Moniker privacy, check the whois history for your domain. I noticed several of my domains had the privacy removed for several days in the last week of December.

Tres - did you have privacy set up to auto renew? You can either email directly with your info and I'll have a look or you can open a help ticket and support will assist.

    Thanks

Auto renew for privacy is the default isn't it?

Of course the canned reply didn't bother to look past the obvious. Why was the privacy service not renewed? Why was it re-instated after a week? Was anyone billed for the renewal?

I have a few other problems with Moniker expressed by others also.. Free URL and DNS service not renewing and having my domains redirected to your parking service.

    Hello John,

    Thank you for contacting us.

The privacy will be lifted from the domain name(s) if they are not renewed. Once your information is displayed removing it from history is not possible.

    Regards,

you should change the description from "privacy" to "not really privacy" or "psuedo-privacy"
do you guys really have meetings to decide the best way to squeeze more money out of your customers?

Yeah shit like this blows. If its a free service why does it need to be renewed anyway. Once privacy is on it can't actually be removed from the domain anyway, only disabled.
These guys need to wake up and realise pissing on their customers is not the smartest business plan.

I'd say redirecting hundreds ( probably thousands ) of domains without consent borders on un-just enrichment and a pattern of deceptive business practices.

There are a lot of great things about Moniker. Support isn't one of them. Neither is customer service. You can get a reply quickly but the support techs are incapable of fixing anything. Instead they act like a filter.. only the persistent succeed in a solution.

Please fix the automatic renewals for your privacy, URL and DNS service.

Stop redirecting websites to your own parking pages without permission.
