They only take one order per name (no auction). Backorders for decent names go early.

If it is happening on EVERY domain that you enter you are probably not clicking on the box that says "Click here to backorder this domain name".
Domain will show as unavail if box not checked.

I backordered a domain with them but they failed to secure it anyway.

With GD, your chances are the odds that are against you, not how deep your pocketbook goes.
    It's a win - win situation sometimes.

ps enjoy it while you can

I used GoDaddy with about 10 and managed to get 2, but since tdnam is around I think you wont get any that have bids there.

I hope so. I just secured PS3CENTRAL.COM with GoDaddy's backordering system which I was happy about. I can't stand these capital-driven companies rinsing every penny they possibly can out of the consumer. I'm all for "one backorder only" systems such as Godaddy! Long may it continue.

    Re: godaddy backorders

tdman.com auctions have priority over backorders for domains already with GoDaddy. the terms of service for backorders states that godaddy will only limit one customer to do a backorder and they will try their best to secure it, but other registrars of course have their own backorder product.

    Re: godaddy backorders

Of course if anyone bids the minimum amount at the auction, they will get the domain. Making the backordering of domain useless for names they are auctioning off.

Pool seems to work the best, at least for the moment, but there are times they have missed the boat too. Better to backorder at all the big companies, if you really want the domain. It will at least get you into the auction.

    Re: godaddy backorders

I just spoke to someone at GoDaddy and he was as surprised as I was that when I place a backorder for a domain dropping from GoDaddy that I am not informed of the fact that the domain also becomes part of the TDNAM process. I could be wrong and would love to be corrected on this one, but nowhere when placing a backorder for a domain at GoDaddy am I informed of this.....in my tiny mind this would appear to be a breach of contract by GoDaddy.

    Re: godaddy backorders

    https://www.tdnam.com/trpFAQ.aspx#BI13

"GoDaddy sends all expired domain names to auction approximately 10 days after the domain expiration date. If no bids are made on the domain at auction the name will be awarded to the back order holder. If a bid is made, the domain will be awarded to the high bidder.
Your backorder is still a valuable asset, it can be used to attempt to capture expiring names from all registrars and will capture names at GoDaddy that do not receive a bid."
