The Goddady backoreder service was Great at one time, I grabbed many good domains, One was a $18 GoDaddy Backorder that I later sold for near 18K.... Those were the days.

So I agree with those who say the service hasn't been discountinued (although it may have been partially discontinued perhaps?)

of Liberal policies that are fiscally and socially destroying the country..
I have stopped using GD backorders but recently decided to try the service again. 0 success even with GoDaddy domains. I was wondering if they stopped the service.
I have an interesting story to share.
Some speculator registered a variation of a domain of a client of mine, after my client sent out a mass email to its list of customers (several thousand) that contained a typo link. The registrant parked the typo to...a porn page.
We used GD to successfully "snap" the name as it was clear from the WHOIS that the registrant was a kiter, dropping the domain every 96 hours.
Placed another backorder at GoDaddy after previous backorder was unsucessfull.
The domain was not caught, but was picked up by a taster. I ended up hand regging the domain days later as it was dropped by the taster.
lol
There is a domain that I want regged through GoDaddy, it expired recently so I still have time before it drops
Do you think I'd have a good chance of getting it if I try to get it though Godaddy or should I also use the other backorder services?

Was the domain dropped by GoDaddy? I've emailed DotComGod about this, hopefully he'll get back to me.
I feel this is very important to me and I'd hate to lose this site (a lot of people would). I still have time in the 19-29 day redemption period.
I have a feeling this might be a little expensive. :(

Bah, I meant what if it was going to be dropped by GoDaddy...
(Edit: Eh, it's early, I didn't mean that that time, I need to straighten out my brain Looks like I'll go though all the regular backorder processes, too, if needed)
GoDaddy still has it registered until the next renewal period and right now it is parked w/ a GoDaddy parking page.
I've emailed the owner of the domain / site ad asked him to renew the domain and I could "buy" it from him (plus the site if possible) but he hasn't responded yet so I'm investigating backup options.
It looks like it won't drop for months if GoDaddy decides to drop it.
I hate this waiting game.![]()

[quote=JuniperPark;1331352]I used to use GoDaddy for backorders on low value domains (they've always been rather useless for high value domains). I would get a few on occasion -- maybe 5% of what I put in, so it was marginally worth the effort.
When I first started utilizing backorders I found that rarely did Godaddy catch the name. Some other registrar picked it up unless the name wasn't that good to start with. So I starting upping the ante with Snapnames which has more server firepower though on occasion I would still try the cheapo Godaddy approach if I was willing to risk not getting the name. Snapnames is much better about capturing names though on occasion they still miss some or a few other bidders want it too and I don't chase after an intense bidding frenzy.
What frustrates me the most about Snapnames backorders is that oftentimes the captured name can only be managed at the original registrar. Thus, for 20 captured names probably five can be easily managed via manage.Snapnames and the rest will be spread out over numerous registrars. To transfer your domains to a single platform, you will have to obtain the login, password and authorization code as well as unlock the domain. This process is tedious and frustrating at times. I have one domain captured via Snapnames and registered with IYD where the admin email was never changed from pending delete so I'm jumping hurdles to fix that.
My main fear is that it will go though a drop service and I won't be able to get it.
Within 24 hours the domain will be parked. I've seen it time and time again with domains that are highly ethical only to be abused.

GoDaddy still on a losing streak here, and in 2 cases yet again failed to notice that the drop already occurred.
Did DotComGod ever reply on this issue?

Someone did address the issue. About a week later the bugs were fixed and the occasional backorder catches did indeed resume.
Yes, but is it actually working?
Especially on .info domains...?
We posted the exact same minute...
Thanks
