Re: Impossible to get low pricing at GoDaddy

You would have to buy a $6.95 account

There are two methods I know of.

One is to buy a $6.95 account from someone who wants to sell one. There used to be quite a bit of trade in these a couple of years ago, and I think they went for anything from about US$150 to US$400.

The other method, which I assume is still on offer from enom, is to make a down payment of something like US$7000 (ie the value of around 1000 registrations or renewals at the $6.95 fee). They then give you the $6.95 price on registrations, renewals and transfers.

Don't forget they also charge 3% "convenience fee" on most ways of refilling your account, which would effectively make the cost US$7.15 per domain.

Re: Impossible to get low pricing at GoDaddy

Does the $7.15 include the .25 Icann fee? GoDaddy also may offer 6.95 to exec acct customers (if you call first during business hrs only and beg for a discount) but the Icann fee is always extra cost beyond the price they quote you.

I understand the enom credit card fee is 4%?

Any way to get an even lower price?

    Enom's fee is 3%.

I don't know if they charge more if you are outside of the U.S.

As it has been suggested by Rob and others, go where you business is appreciated.

In my case, I prefer Enom and Moniker.

I have less than 5% of my names with GoDaddy and WildWest.

And, I go on spells where I will transfer 25 domains out of there at a time.

It is way to time consuming to transfer out of there. And, I'm sure that is
    by design.

Bottomline, GD is not the best choice as your primary home for professional domainers.

I may be lucky, or have enough domains, but they don't charge me the Icann fee on top of the $6.95 price they give me at godaddy

They say they charge a 3% fee for this, as far as I know. When I pay by VISA, VISA *also* charge me further fee on top of the 3% fee that enom charge, but this happens for pretty much all the VISA payments I make, maybe due to being in dollars rather than the currency of my VISA card.

Every day I get more disturbed and disappointed in GoDaddy and the way they handle what should be preferred clients. My Daughter who has 1 domain at GD actually gets more courtesy than me. GD has even personally called her thanking her for the business (not a sales call) but it appears large domainers are not thanked based on my experiences. It seems the only calls I ever get are only trying to sell me something or renew my soon expiring WildWest account.

Getting less than $9.20 is a big hassle. Hard to believe they have no online mechanism for giving their best customers any discounts. How stupid and nonsensical is that where someone with hundreds or even thousands of domains pays the same price (or even more) than someone with one!

P.S. In the past I always defended GD and posted good stuff about them when they were flamed here and at other forums but those days are over what with their seemingly negatively changed business model which obviously heavily favors new and small customers with courtesy, good deals and promos vs large and established long time clients.

That's my exact feeling, too. Just yesterday I contacted them about my 400 domains for a better pricing and the lady on the phone simply didn't care, saying that "only the best 5,000 clients get discounts". And all that after they could not catch a domain i was back ordering with them, a domain that was on their OWN servers!!!

Well, I'll be out of there soon!

Yes, just a number. Now, I know.

And they do not even offer a TollFree phone number...

Re: Impossible to get low pricing at GoDaddy

This is an old thread from Feb which has been revived.

FYI, the situation is the same, nothing has changed with GD. They still would not let even their top customers reg names at less than $9.20 unless they first call the acct exec for authorization on a name by name basis.

That's one of the reasons most of my names have now moved away from both GD and WW to Moniker, a much better place in other ways too.
