Removing Private Reg from Domain Renewal

Originally this post was to ask help on how to do this. But I was able to figure it out and here's what you need to do if you want to remove a private registration from a domain renewal:

1/ Log in to your Domains by Proxy account and cancel it there.
2/ You may need to retrieve your customer id as it is different than your GoDaddy id.
3/ Then, wait a few minutes and remove your domain from shopping cart and re-add it. At this time the private reg will not show.

Not a problem. This was precisely the info I was initially looking for, so I'm sure others will be/are too. Hopefully this post will be of service.

As a domainer, are there any positive benefits of having a domain proxy?

IMO, only to protect yourself from spam or unsolicited offers or contact.

I would not recommend it if you are using a domain for business purposes or if you want to sell it. Private reg makes you look like you are trying to hide something. For me it was only a temporary thing until I decided what I wanted to do with the domain.
