Feedback about new DS dns integration

According to few feedback just read in other threads, I'm afraid they'll not consider the mail below I've just sent because all other users here appreciated such change so, probably, I'll be the only unhappy affiliate :(

***
Dear Sirs,

Here's **********************
I've just learned with great surprise about all changes that will affect
proredirect accounts in the next days ... So this's my feedback with a
couple of questions, concerns and my disappoint for such change.

I found proredirect an excellent tool under all aspects, easy to manage
domains, to setup redirections by adding keywords/descriptions etc ... But
some features were really excellent for me including the ability to share
our portfolio under many targeted groups in order to have a full control
over all "thematic domains" currently in our possess ...

Now, adding all domains directly under our account would not be the same
thing, I'm afraid ...
At proredirect, we can delete domains through a single interface
indipendently by their group location, would it be the same through the new
panel ?
Here we had the option to view all our portfolio shown in the same page, at
DS I'm afraid we'd see it only by clicking on the specific id but not all
"id domains" listed in the same page ... It's not a positive change in my
opinion.

At proredirect was very easy adding extra parameters to some selected
domains in their redirection url apart their id (i.e. &adultfilter=off /
&opt=off), would it be the same once at DS ?
Uhm, I'm afraid it will not be the same thing, losing the ability to share
our portfolio under many groups, will make our life much harder, having all
domains listed under their own id but not shared in thematic groups, will be
a big disadvantage at least for me and my partners.

I think there're many possible solutions to this problem in order to meet
the needs of all your affiliates, for example:
- proredirect might continue to exist as an independent redirect service,
users who should opt for adding their domains directly through their DS
panel, might do so by logging at their accounts and by replacing the
existing dns of the affected names with the new ones while, who should opt
for staying with proredirect, would not need to apply any change to their
existing dns.

At the same time, I realise that many users might use proredirect service to
forward domains on external urls so you might only allow redirects on the DS
url and I think that a similar solution would meet the approval of all your
affiliates leaving them the choice to use the most apropriate service for
their needs.

After all, I don't think to be the only unhappy user for these new changes
... I hope you'll consider a middle-way solution in the interest of all your
affiliates.

Regards

Re: Feedback about new DS dns integration

silly email - i looked all over the ds website to find where to add the new names - looked all over the email when exactly the new dn server is functional and when my 'active names are moved to the new setup.

not one word about this in the email. the old system will be disabled on the 9 of oct. - email recieved on the 4 .

i think they should provide more information as all domains must be changed by the 9.oct - but so far no indication that they are prepaired for it.

Re: Feedback about new DS dns integration

your domains that are currently using "proredirect" will not have to be changed, they will intergrate those for you.

it's just the new one's you will have to add to the new interface.

Re: Feedback about new DS dns integration

Here is the deal.
New nameservers will start working on the 9th.
Old nameservers will stop working on the 9th.
There is no overlap!!!
So whatever you do (unless you know the exact second they are going to switch) you are going to lose revenue.
This is very unprofessional. There should be AT LEAST a one month overlap.

Re: Feedback about new DS dns integration

This doesn't matter for people currently forwarding their domains using their own servers and re-directing names to parking pages, correct?

According to the email I received, it says that you don't need to change anything. It sounded like they would point the old proredirect nameservers to the new nameservers automatically.

Did I miss something?

You are absolutely right. I asked DS and they responded to my question on the other forum say: no need to do anything at all. All proredirect servers will be redirected to dsredirect "automatically" .... so no need to do anything.... no worries.

Re: Feedback about new DS dns integration

This is what the email said:
"Please note: The old DNS service known as ProRedirect will be disabled
on October 9th , 2006."

Now they just told me that it is not so. DS screwed up with the email.

Re: Feedback about new DS dns integration

I noticed their new nameservers are
Primary Name Server: NS1.DSREDIRECTION.COM
Primary IP Address: 204.13.160.15

Secondary Name Server: NS2.DSREDIRECTION.COM
Secondary IP Address: 204.13.161.15

Some countries require the secondary DNS to use a different IP subnet that the primary IP, Germany for example.
Would be nice if they changed that.
