Hi Denny....
One of the domains in the list in Afternic was offered here trough a DNF member called Airwave and he has also a lot of google related domains to sell...maybe is the same guy...THE GUY ON AFTERNIC IS AIRWAV
Just trying to help
If you are new to domains and looking to buy, sell and learn about domains then you have come to the right place. DNForum is the largest domain name community on the internet and continues to grow every day. There are over 105,000 domainers on DNForum doing everything from buying domains, selling domains, learning about domains and discussing domains. Take a minute and Register.
Register Today on DNForum IT'S FREE!12 days ago I was browsing Afternic and saw earth-google.com BIN price $500 - of course I grabbed it immediately, 'cause it will have huge traffic. I knew it was sellers mistake so I was curoius if he is THE DUDE and take the loss and sell the domain or he is A PUSSY and will make a way out.
Seller even did not confirm step one, I told Afternic I will pay once he finish step one: "Seller confirm that you have agreed to this sale and are able to transfer the domain when the exchange authorizes the transfer". But Afternic (Brian Ebrecht) insisted I pay immediately ("Please send the payment regardless of when Step 1 is completed"). So I paid immeidately.
3 days later I wrote reminding message and Afternic PATRONIZE me to be patient... Funny how he always asks me how is the weather is Shanghai, which is really confusing and stupid question but I am always polite and answer this BS question.
And today (12 days later) I got messages:
"I have just spoken with the buyer, and they no longer own this domain. Before we cancel this Escrow Transaction, we will apply the funds to your Afternic account for easy use."
First he obviously do not "no more owns the domain", he needed those 12 days to tansfer it away and PRETEND he no more owns the domain.
Second - no way, you will return me money NOW, I am finished with buying at Afternic, You always side the ones which are screwing with me (i.e. the infamous skyp.com affair).
Buyer: Thank you for your understanding in the cancellation of this transaction. Please note that the buyer will be updating their portfolio. They also own GogleEarth.com.
Unbeliavable what you dare to write - are you sociopath ? After someone screwed with me you are offering something else from him ???
So basically - what made me angry ? For once Afternic forced me to send payment eventhough it was obvious seller has no intentions to sell. They wasted my time and blocked my money for 12 (or more ) days. And it is not the first time, same happened in the skyp.com case.
And also the seller - I understand he is no man, no balls, he is pc of sh*te walking uselessly our mother earth. There is a lot of people like this and we have to live with them. But he was not answering for 12 days although he was all the time online - his NP profile as a proof: nam*pros.com/search.php?searchid=842432
You can see his portfolio on Afternic so be AWARE of him:

Yeah thats him* , we are now making some email exchange, he claims he did not use Afternic for 2 years and the email to where Afternic sends him messages does not exist for 8 month. That would be understandable
He could omit though a remark in his email:
"BTW, according to your post on DNForum, you even thought the seller screwed up on the price, so who really was the one trying to pull one over?").
So I take it as settled, now I am curious how would Afternic explain why they force people to pay eventhough seller did not confirmed the sale. Thats what started me at first place - if they let me do things logically, I would just move on, but they did force me to waste time with useless payment - thats unforgivable, stupid and irational...
*actually it's "her" I learned now

Thanks for your help ColdGin.
BTW I am a girl. And, btw not out to rip anyone off. Afternic accepted his payment without verifying with me if I still had the domain. The email that afternic had on file was old and not used, they did call me yesterday and told me they had his cash and I informed them that I no longer owned the domain.
OK, just goes to show you have to keep your portfolio current, but it also makes me concerened that afternic would approve a sale without approving step 1 first.
Those domains in the portfolio are just horrible.
That happpened to me as well. On a hunch, I emailed first to see if I should pay until step 1 was complete. the response was "yes". Sure enough, the domain had already been sold elsewhere.
To their credit, they did issue a refund check quickly (including the $15 WT fee) - but it still tied up 2k for over a week.
I have taken to selecting my payment method right away - but waiting for step 1 before I actually send any money.
Denny thanks for the info. Not too keen on buying at Afternic anyway due to the 'Closing Soon' section that they throw your name into for others to bid on the name that you found. As for earth-google, Not sure if I should be feeling sorry for you Denny or Google![]()

Thanks for your opinion, you know that everyone has one.
However, I believe that the reason this thread was started was because someone wanted one of my domains so badly and did not get it and now he is throwing a pitty party.
BTW, the reserve was set at $1500 for this name, so his offer would have been refused.
FYI this is message from Afternic from 10.10.:
-------------------
Congratulations, the following exchange member has accepted your offer!
Domain name: earth-google.com
Final price: $500.00 USD
Seller username: airwav

Learn what BIN price means !
If BIN price would be $1500 I would bid $1500 of course.
As to your email remark you sent me:
"From your picture I can tell that you are an under developed male asshole."
Now we know already you are no Einstein (if you know what I mean), so how about you post YOUR picture, so we see how DEVELOPPED female YOU are (if you know what I mean)...

Another cool thread.
I agree. Interesting thread. Can always find something new to read about every day.
Has anyone checked the whois history?
Was the name sold after the $500 was put forward ?
Airwave, why did you accept the BIN ? Also are you certain that you are not still the owner ?
'Those who stand for nothing fall for anything' - Alexander Hamilton in 1978
1.) I never accepted the BIN, I could not because I am not the owner.
2.) Afternic accepted the BIN without informing me. The email addy they had was old, they called me after the fact that they had his cash.
3.) I never had the $500 as 007 states. Everything I had listed there had a $1500 reserve. The only thing that I can figure is when afternic updated their site it screwed with their data base.
Again, I never accepted this fellows cash, afternic did, which bottom line is wrong.
However it is also wrong to be bashed and cyber stalked by a guy that didn't get his way.
He is not only posting here, but on other forums he states:
"If you are same airwav as who has these listings: http://www.afternic.com/names.php?best=1&u=46262
I am saying - good, I wish more companies screw with you for how did you screwed with me on Afternic !"
Lastly, why would you pay afternic up front before you had the sellers ok on the deal?![]()

Airwave.........thanks for the info. Perhaps Afternic should be more responsible for checking that domains match owners. I guess that would take a lot of work.

speaking only as reseller, this has happened to me on both ends at afternic.
buying and selling
had some outdated listings still there and they accepted the offers, not me.
they included the option in my "cp" to accept offers and i never accepted it.
as a buyer, got the same as denny.
i recently updated any names left there.

1., 2.
You accepted the BIN when you set it up. Thats the meaning of BIN (Afternic call it "asking price").
If you listed a domain which is not yours, Afternic should cancel your account immediately which I still believe they will do.
3.
To setup asking price $500 and "reserve" $1500 is yet another proof you are no Einstein, if you know what I mean
I paid Afternic upfront simply because they asked me to do. Also - again, maybe you will get it finally - asking price mean thats the price you are going to ACCEPT, thats a BIN price. If you'd do this on Ebay (reject to sell for BIN price claiming you do not have the goods you listed for sale) they would cancel your account.
"Much better" ? earth-google.com gets about 20K uniques/month
