    keyword optimization

anyone using afternic w/ fab ?

I cant seem to be able to optimize my keywords.
    I keep getting this:
Keywords must equal the characters left of the first period, excluding all dashes. Just add spaces. Leave blank to have it computed automatically.

is there any way around this?

    Re: keyword optimization

Afternic always insist by default to try and split the domain name into separate words. You have to contact them for an exception -- try sedo and they will allow you to create your own keyword and let you have it once they've reviewed it. Afternic's way is the 'lazy' way -- dictionary lookup only.

    thanks.

    lets say I owned 'helloworld.com'
it goes to 'hello world', and I want 'hello' as the keyword.
    it wont allow me.
I left it blank because it says it auto optimizes that way, but so far havent seen any change.

    Re: keyword optimization

It's a pretty lousy system. Take my domain: 4my.net -- you as a human can understand it and provide optimum keywords, but Afternic's dictionary can't. They should take the time to build in an AI database of some sort; like '4=for' and '2=to' and sort prepositions from nouns -- ughh. If I remember correctly, all these parkers took the time to manually review stuff. Seems like that's all gone by the wayside while the aftermarket expands.

To tell you the truth, I've found that the best way to maximise income of 'strongish' keyword domains is to use the DNF PPC template system, and Adsense them up, and spend a few cents on AdWords for the traffic.

To wit: You are talking about helloworld.com. You and I both know that the target here is programmers, with potentially reasonably-paying keywords thru AdSense. You won't get that on Afternic. "Hello World" is not a phrase that their keyword parser can make any sense of.

Come to think of it, I have no idea why even now I have a ton of domains on Afternic. Time is always at a premium I guess :(
