| Platinum Lifetime Member | 3500 uniques/day -- Better monetizing ideas I have bunch of domain names, which get about 3500 total unique visitors a day .. Landing at Domainsponsor fetching me on an average $125/day .. But I feel there should be smart way to make at least 3-4 times to what i am making .. Ideas welcome

Obviously the way to go is to develop the domains into sites (with content) and 'link' the sites (get cross clicks). I know this is simple but it is the best thing I can suggest you do. All the best.

I should be earning well over 3k day based on that ratio (wish that was so). P.S. Possibly you mean 1,000 clicks, not uniques. Actual clicks at .30c/ea would equal $300. 10c to 30c per click on ppc seems about average for most domain names.

I myself pay about 10 cents per click at google adwords to promote some of my websites .. I like the "acegoet" idea of selling ebooks or downloads but not sure ..

I don't think you can compare per visitor to per click, seems you are doing almost $40 RPM , that is I would say above average , you could explore developing some names with affiliate programs depending on whats out there for programs that match up with your visitors, sometimes it works very well with targeted visitors, sometimes it doesn't and you earn the same as you would parking or less, but traffic may build on a well seo'd site.

I am recently done (almost) buying domains....one has to draw line somewhere ![]() Let me tell you my theory (if you don't mind): I been in domaining for 9 years. In fact, many people have that kind of RPM. I get pretty high rpm too. I have never bought a domain just for the sake of traffic, never. I buy my domains with end user in mind.....traffic or no traffic.....as long as the domain makes sense...I have bought it. I have always stayed away from gaming, ringtone, cartoons, music, etc type of domains as these domains have lot of traffic from people looking for free stuff. In some cases, extra traffic does compensate for the low rpc for these kind of domains though. I have also not bought many product domains eg. ipod, dvd, shoes, tables, etc. as products come and go and also prices generally drop with time plus China is killing product industry with cheap stuff....low margins mean low advertising rates. 99% of my domains are service related: casino, poker, loans, mortgages, insurance, education, trave/vacation/cruises/hotels, dating/singles, banking, credit/creditcards/creditreports, domain-registrations, realestate, etc...you get the point. But make no mistake, these domains don't get too much traffic but all the traffic they get is type-in......I have no links etc on my domains.....so the traffic is highly targetted and very potent. Clicks are few but click rates are huge......It is not uncommon to get ppc/rpc of over a dollars on average. Individual clicks can go very high for some domains i.e. in tens of dollars per click. Like I said above, I buy generics and Brandnames with only one purpose i.e. for enduser sale in mind. End user want a nice brandable or generic domain...they never ask for traffic. In fact I have never sold a domain based on traffic.....my average sale price per domain is high four figure. Again I have never listed my domains for sale before and have only sold a few so far when someone found me via whois. I respect my talent and my domains and I always ask for a decent price and if the end user really like the domain they will buy it from you.....otherwise if you quote too low the end user may think that you also think your domain is not very good. You have more chance of making a sale if you ask a respectable price for your domain versus if you ask too low. But again domain must be either brandable or generic and should be descriptive such as: InexpensiveAutoInsurance.com, EverydayLoans.com, DebtAdmin.com, DetroitTV.org, OhioCreditReport.com, DomainSense.com, etc....you know what I mean. Btw, do NOT worry about domain length as long as the domain tells what it is all about i.e. descriptive. This whole approach serves three purposes: 1. makes good enough money in ppc to pay for registrations/renewals and still have some profit. 2. land you few sales a year but big ones. 3. you don't run out of your domain inventory selling cheap i.e. you can sell 100 domains for $80 each for total of $8000 or you can sell 1 or 2 for $8000 and still have 98 left for sale. Just stay away from hype kind of domains....buy the real workhorse domains. They will get less traffic but will make you money. And at the end: its all about making more money, not getting more traffic. Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps. Quote:
I also slowly plan to move from ppc to development....one domain at a time. Last edited by DomainEngineer; 12-09-2006 at 10:15 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
