Motorola Droid Still Leading the Android Pack
Further down in the article, there is mention that for the very first time, more mobile traffic was served up on the Android OS than on the iPhone OS (46% to 39%).
The really easily overlooked part in all of this is the Android comprises many individual phones whereas the iPhone is, well...the iphone.
Unquestionably, the fact that one product accounts for 39% is quite phenomenal. Actually, they are both stunning performers.
Personally, I think its pretty cool that so much attention is being paid to the mobile space.
And, dammit! I love them both. How can that be? How can someone be so conflicted to love, cherish and use both?
I have the Google Nexus One Android phone. There are so many fascinating features and some stellar apps (speaking of stellar, the GoogleSky app is a ball buster when it comes to constellations and the night sky. This thing rocks!) and spoken turn-by-turn directions (yes, spoken) are but a few of the ever expanding apps available.
Then I have an iPod Touch. Is there anything that is NOT an app in the Apple store? I have found so many incredibly useful apps (for me, I would rather call them tools) for my profession and just plain entertainment.
Most of all, I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of two iPad tablets. Ever since chatting with a couple of peeps on this forum about what it can and can't do, the game changer for me was the availability of a graphics app that will allow me to draw, paint, sketch, and publish from the tablet. This was a huge discovery for me since I was looking long and hard at a Wacom Cintiq graphics tablet with a base price of $999.00-$1,199.00. I am being realistic in my expectations as the iPad is not designed to replace something like a Wacom tablet. But for less than half the price, I get the freedom of taking the iPad anywhere, anytime, any place. Unlike the iPad, the Wacom is a slave to the computer it is hooked up with and where the software resides. Plus, I do have an earlier Wacom tablet that will suffice for more detailed illustrations and photo editing.
All in all, I love what I am seeing in regards to new technology and innovation. I am anxious to learn to use these items to their fullest potential. And I am even more anxious about getting serious about site developing and creating to work seamlessly across all these platforms.
Just thought I would post some stats, an article, and some of my personal thoughts (and excitement).
