First off, the person in question in the OP is a STATE legislator. There are all types in the state legislatures.

Did I say he was not acquitted? Did I say he was found guilty? NO... I said he was impeached, and he was. You being a Lawyer (and a poor example of one at that) should know what the word means, obviously not.

Thank you for confirming that you see no contradiction in concluding that being impeached is a "free pass". The question is not whether it resulted in an acquittal - that was a foregone conclusion for several reasons. But your implicit suggestion that the impeachment proceeding was a "free pass" is risible.

My Buddy from Baton Rouge just left here on the way back home (had been to Virginia).

He is the one that brought up Jefferson telling me to keep an eye on the news.

He is not a democrat, he is a lifelong republican, he is a former Vietnam Vet, retired from the Marines, and somewhat older than me. Still, a mild mannered likeable guy but meaner than a swamp gator when he needs to be.

It is pretty amazing to hear him say that even he did not vote for McCain because of two things...Palin and the GOP had ****ed up things enough for the past 8 years. No, he is not happy with how things currently are. He is not happy that Jefferson and Nagin were re-elected because people who had lived in New Orleans got to vote even though they were not physically in New Orleans or Louisiana. Because they had lived in NO and LA when Katrina hit, they STILL got to vote even though they now live in Chicago or anywhere else. It is not so much of an absentee issue as it is a great many of these people were never going to return to the state or New Orleans. He claims the Dems stole that election (Nagin and Jefferson) and they may have by making such loose rules to vote by.

But, like I said, New Orleans and Louisiana politics have always been corrupt as hell. And I hope Jindal can clean it up and stay clean and make a possible run as the GOP candidate one year.

I guess Jefferson, hiding the money in his freezer, took the phrase Cold Hard Cash to the extreme.
