Um, lets see...is it because we already have a law saying illegal immigration is, well, illegal?

And the government (Arizona) is not going to stop illegal immigration by passing a law saying it is a crime being in this country illegally.

And the government (US) is not going to stop illegal immigration with a virtual fence.

I am all for doing something concrete and substantial to stop illegal immigration but

one, the Arizona law does nothing concrete and substantial to stop illegal immigration and
two, a "virtual" fix (fence) is not the answer to a real issue.

Now, here's a question. Where has been the outrage over illegal immigration from Arizona prior to the last couple of months?

And, With the overwhelming majority of Americans supporting the Arizona law and securing the southern border, was the answer to appropriate $6.7 billion dollars to build a virtual fence?

---------- Post added at 09:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:30 PM ----------

And to she that insists on not bending the truth, how about defining OVERWHELMING, as in overwhelming majority of Americans supporting the Arizona law and securing the southern border:

The overwhelming majority of Americans think the country’s immigration policies need to be seriously overhauled.

But the poll — conducted April 28 through May 2 with 1,079 adults, and with a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points — suggests that Americans remain deeply divided about what to do.

A majority of the people polled, 57 percent, said the federal government should determine the laws addressing illegal immigration. But 51 percent said the Arizona law was “about right” in its approach to the problem. Thirty-six percent said it went too far and 9 percent said it did not go far enough.

Just like Doc, Trash the New York times as a non-credible source regarding the Oil disaster in the Gulf, THEN prop them up as credible when using a OUTDATED POLL... LMAO.

    I think most will agree that 71% is OVERWHELMING;

71% in Arizona Now Support State’s New Immigration Law

And it's even recent, imagine that.

71% in Arizona Now Support State’s New Immigration Law
    Thursday, May 20, 2010

Arizona voters now support the state’s new immigration law more than ever and are still more inclined to think the law will be good for the state’s economy rather than bad. A lot of voters in the state are thinking it’s payback time, too, to those cities or states that boycott Arizona.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Arizona finds that 71% now favor the immigration law, while 24% oppose it.

In late April, the law was supported by 64% of the state’s voters and opposed by 30%.

Nationally, 55% of voters favor passage of such a law in their state.

President Obama and others, including major Hispanic groups, have criticized the law, saying it will lead to racial profiling, and have continued to oppose it despite the state legislature’s amending of the law to address that concern.

Now only 43% of Arizona voters are at least somewhat concerned that efforts to identify and deport illegal immigrants also will end up violating the civil rights of some U.S. citizens, down seven points from the previous survey. Fifty-five percent (55%) do not share that concern.

Unchanged from late April is the view of 87% that the new immigration law is at least somewhat important in terms of how they will vote in the next election. That includes 63% who say it’s Very Important.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, following her signing and passionate defense of the new law, now claims 45% of the vote in the state’s Republican Primary field. That’s a 19-point gain from a month ago and puts her well ahead of all her challengers.

Rasmussen Reports will release new numbers pitting Brewer and the three other Republican contenders for the party’s gubernatorial nomination against likely Democratic nominee Terry Goddard tomorrow. Goddard, the state’s attorney general, opposes the new law.

(Want a free daily e-mail update? If it's in the news, it's in our polls). Rasmussen Reports updates are also available on Twitter or Facebook.

The survey of 500 Likely Voters in Arizona was conducted on May 17, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Despite boycotts by Los Angeles and Boston and threats from other cities, states and organizations, 47% of voters in Arizona think the new immigration law will be good for the state’s economy, up three points from late April. Thirty-five percent (35%) say it will be bad for the state, and another nine percent (9%) say it will have no impact.

Arizona officials say the new law is needed in part because illegal immigration is causing big public safety and financial problems for the state. They blame federal officials for not enforcing U.S. immigration policy.

Forty percent (40%) say Arizona should boycott any city, state or organization that boycotts their state. Forty-six percent (46%) of Arizona voters disagree.

But 46% also say they will avoid traveling to any city or state that boycotts Arizona. Forty-three percent (43%) say they won’t change their travel plans because of any boycotts.

Forty-one percent (41%) of voters in Arizona believe the new immigration law has affected the state’s image in a positive way, while 47% say the impact has been negative. This is virtually unchanged from late April.

Only eight percent (8%) say they want to move out of Arizona because of the new immigration law. Eighty-nine percent (89%) plan on staying put.

Obama and President Felipe Calderon of Mexico denounced the Arizona law at a joint White House press conference yesterday. But most Americans don’t believe Mexico wants to stop the illegal flow of its citizens into this country and think America’s southern neighbor should be asked to compensate U.S. taxpayers for costs incurred by illegal immigration.

Most voters continue to say as they have for years that gaining control of the border is more important than legalizing the status of undocumented workers.

Voters across the nation are extremely skeptical about the federal government’s role in the immigration debate. Three-out-of-four voters believe that the federal government is not doing enough to secure the nation’s borders. In fact, 56% believe that the policies of the federal government encourage illegal immigration.

Among voters who are angry about immigration, 83% are angry at the federal government. Only 12% direct their anger at the immigrants.

Oh, so the statement With the overwhelming majority of Americans supporting the Arizona law

    was wrong.

    So, I was right.

But, now you want to call it an outdated poll and

now you want to post a poll taken of Arizonians.

Tell ya' what, when you finally get your shit together and don't keep posting mistakes and errors only to have to follow that up with corrections, then there might be some substance to your point.

So don't post a bullshit statement saying With the overwhelming majority of Americans supporting the Arizona law when it is not true.

Then, quite frankly, I must be the only person to read your garbage and take it as it is stated.

I don't know how else to interpret the overwhelming majority of Americans other than something much on order with "Nationwide".

Do you even think about or understand the meaning of words in relation to what you write?

You seem to have a real issue at posting something, then denying that is what you posted or meant, and then quickly attempt to deflect attention away from you.

And if I am the only person reading it that way, then I am obviously the only person reading your dribble.

National poll shows support for AZ immigration law, federal reform
Phoenix Business Journal - by Mike Sunnucks

A new poll shows strong national support for Arizona’s controversial new immigration law with a split between Latinos and other groups on the issue.

The same 1,100-person survey also shows national backing for federal immigration reforms. Lake Research Partners and Public Opinion Strategies conducted the poll for America’s Voice.

Sixty percent of those polled support Arizona’s immigration law, which allows police more authority to question suspected illegal immigrants. Twenty-three percent in the survey oppose the law while 18 percent are not sure.

Fifty-five percent of Latinos surveyed May 13-19 oppose the Arizona law, 35 percent support the law and 10 percent are not sure.

Eighty-four percent of those backing the Arizona law also support federal immigration action, while 12 percent were opposed. The poll describes immigration reform as requiring illegal immigrants already in the U.S. to pay back taxes, undergo criminal background checks and get in line for legal status. It does not mention amnesty or a legal path to citizenship.

Other polls nationally and in Arizona also show support for new law. A valid driver’s license suffices as proper identification under the Arizona statute.

immigration from latin america does have a good side to it: latin american families are typically INTACT FAMILIES, and that is something that is rare in America now. It makes sense to import what is no longer available. They will be pivotal someday in overturning americommunist laws that allow the American state to step inside the American home and dictate how to bring up American children. Sometimes the most patriotic thing you can say about your country is 'my country sucks' instead of screaming 'ooooooh the emperor has such lovely clothes on'. so good luck to all of you guys bravely creeping across the border: breed faster

Don't know why you revived this thread...

But since you did, Do you know that some people who were opposed to this law, are now blaming the supporters of the Arizona law for the recent Arizona shooting? It never ceases to amaze me at how desperate and pathetic these people are.
