Should America has to regress to allowing third world wages, not to mention third world labor and enviromental regulations to compete?
Considering the cost of living is sky high in Hong Kong, that is horrible.
I am sure every one who works there for minimum wage does not live there. I believe it was Palm Springs California that upped the minimum wage to $18.00 just to attract workers to come into town to work at the fast food restaurants etc. The cost of living is so high that laborers don't live in the city confines. Some commute as much as three hours one way to go to work. But, that's what the city council had to do to attract people to work there.
In too many places throughout this globe, there is a huge gap of what is paid. Nearly every resort town - like Vale, Colorado - they may pay the minimum wage but the workers can not afford to live within the resort or city confines.
Imagine Hong Kong and how big it is...how far out away from the city do people have to live in order to get by on the $4.00 per hour?
