    Cool Being a Dick -

This is an interview from 1994 from then Secretary of Defense to Papa Bush.

    Take a listen:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csKkd...eature=related

    So, what changed?

Well, from 1995 until 2000, he served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Halliburton. You know, the no bid contractor of Afghanistan, Iraq, and even - yes - Katrina.

Okay, so a citizen leaves a job making nearly $8million a year to take a post as VP.

Fast forward - as Vice President, this is what Cheney had to say when confronted with the poll results saying 2/3 of Americans are against the war in Iraq...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SypeZjeOrY4&NR=1

Jeez, how about asking the Iraqi people if they are happy with the "fundamental change and improvement for the better" that we brought to them. Seven years later.

Are you saying that the Iraqi people aren't better off today then when Saddam was in power? You can argue how we got there but the results so far are very encouraging.

Um, you expect to pull out of a country in Ruin, with over 100,000 soldiers deployed, and to just pack up and leave overnight?

You see, that's what we did in Vietnam.

Rather than stay and finish the job or defend the South any more, we fled.

We ended up pissing off the locals to the point they became our enemy. Many knew they would be executed in the hands of the Viet Cong from the north.

So, we went to Iraq, had no exit plan and no exit strategy, no purpose or no provocation, we have destroyed Bagdad and their country, we have violated every single right a sovereign nation has, we have turned more people against the US and the West than ever imaginable, and just because the president says we will leave Iraq...

just a snap of the fingers and it is done?

The magic power that many of you yield is incredible.

Many on this forum should win the lottery every night.

We can make this about Obama...

Or we can view the clips and see why Cheney says we should not go to Bagdad ("quagmire") and then see him do a complete 180 degrees when confronted with the 2/3rds disapproval - So?

    BD,

I guess the ones qualified to answer your concerns about Iraqis being better off today than under Saddam would be:

the families of 4,378 US soldiers killed in Iraq
the 320,000 US soldiers that have permanent brain injuries (combined Afghan/Iraq),
the families of 18 Iraqi vets a day that commit suicide,
ask the soldiers and the families of the more than 100,000 US soldiers wounded in Iraq,
the families of 325 coalition soldiers killed in Iraq,
the families of the 1,395 contract workers killed in Iraq,
the 335 journalist killed in Iraq,
and the 431 academics killed Iraq,
and the families of the known death toll of nearly 104,000 Iraqi civilians killed, the most recent being:

    Monday 1 February: 55 killed
    Baghdad: 54 by suicide bomber
    Ramadi: 1 by gunfire

I think you would get a Alhamdulillah out there, somewhere, from someone who thinks they are better off.

    American Deaths Total InCombat
    Since war began (3/19/03): 4375 3478

That's what Obama tried to make you believe during his campaign, It was one of his many sales pitches to win over voters for a very unpopular war.

Obama promised a 16 month timetable for withdraw during his entire campaign, Since then he has revised that estimate at least twice now, So what's Obama projecting now for a complete pullout? Oh yeah, NO later than Dec. 31st 2011, which is the SAME TIMETABLE BUSH AND IRAQ AGREED TO IN AUGUST OF 2008.

But Obama's rhetoric of bringing our troops home early sure did sound good during the campaign, didn't it?

Please vote Republican in 2012, America can not sustain another 4 years
of Liberal policies that are fiscally and socially destroying the country.

Typical raideresque...its obama's fault, its obama's fault, its obama's fault.

You know, lets say for the sake of argument that Obama is not acting fast enough.

Now, lets here you say how a war based on falsified intel that was known to be bogus from the start led to a war in Iraq that should have never been.

As for Bush and Cheney, see those stats?

That is blood on their hands.

But, they quickly wiped it off with oil and now all they see is green.

I don't know why 18 iraqi vets a day kill themselves. Certainly can't ask them now, can we.

Perhaps the same reason many of my friends committed suicide after coming back from Southeast Asia.

You've never seen carnage in the form of bodies blown to unrecognizable chunks of meat, have you?

Have you ever been shot at, been talking to a buddy one minute and the next minute you are splattered in his blood or brain matter?

Have you ever been on patrol in a seemingly peaceful spot and suddenly someone drives a carbomb up and makes a crater 100 feet wide and 30 feet deep killing more than 100 people at once?

When my nephew comes back from Ramali and the next time I see my brother-in-law army colonel, I'll be sure to ask them why a bunch of pampered pussies from the US kill themselves.

Now, in relation to the other part of your question, the part about your supposition as to why the civilians don't kill themselves, here's a news flash for you in case you have missed the news.

    They do.

    Its called a "suicide bomber".

Next time you listen to the news, um...real news - not Limbaugh and Beck sh*t but real news, pay attention and see if you pick up on that term...

    suicide bomber.

It appears to me, and I am sure others, that you are taking quite a casual, cavalier approach to perhaps the single most event (Invasion of Iraq) that has put this country on the brink of financial collapse, not only now but in the long term.

Who will not only pay for the two wars (you do realize they have not been properly funded) as well as the long term medical care of the vets? The "rebuilding" of Iraq and Afghanistan?

If you have kids and they end up dying far from home in a hostile environment, perhaps you will ditch the nonchalant approach you carry towards the Iraq war.

You ask questions as if you don't know the answer but you do.

Your attempt to being philosophical and waxing and waning about war, mankind, and history seems to be coming out of a horse's ass and is laughable.

But, you would obviously be in great company of the other horse asses that you so greatly admire, Bush and Cheney.
