I have not heard anything about this. It would be interesting to see what comes out in the next few days.

I honestly respect this man and was behind him in 2000 and was supporting him from 2006 on. What killed it for me was Sarah Palin.

This has come out time and time again as the main deal breaker for his campaign. She totally embarrassed herself and the republican party with the Katy Couric interview.

And just recently she gave an interview that was aired where she spoke openly about how Dubya has hurt the McCain campaign.

I was watching the news here in NC an hour or so ago. Early voting has started a week ago and everyone has been caught off guard by the numbers voting and the overwhelming number of new voters. Exit polls show McCain with only 38% of the vote.

North Carolina has been a stronghold of the GOP for ages. The phone is ringing with robocalls perhaps 4-6 calls a day. All the networks are bombarded and it is one ad after another. There is a very vicious race for Elizabeth Dole's senate seat and Governor of NC. All are exceptionally strong negative ads.

It is hard to tell people they are better off with the massive layoffs and plant closings and jobs shipped overseas. And yes...the populous blames the GOP.

That's the thing. There's a difference from being the smart girl next door and a leader.

Some things for everyone to think about:

    1) I admire Palin for not hiding her family. For showing that even politicians have family problems out of their control. Palin should be admired for that. But it doesn't qualify her for Vice President.

    2) McCain constantly says how he can "fix things" and "he knows how to do that". He's had 30 years....If he knew how to fix things, he's had plenty of time and plenty of power to get busy.

    3) Obama was in the Illinois Senate from 1997–2004 and has been in the U.S. Senate from 2005 - present. That means he's been in the public and government eye for at least 10 years.

    What's the point?

Why....after all these years..does McCain/Palin care if Obama is a US citizen or not, if he "palled around with terrorists" when they never cared before? And do you really believe that people are going to allow him to be in the Senate for so long without doing a thorough background check of his associations and citizenship? Think about it...if it was that easy for McCain/Palin to "find something" to base their negative ads on, why would it be so hard for everyone else if there were any truth to their smear campaign?

The reason why is because the McCain/Palin campaign is grasping at straws and telling you what you want to hear. They want to win. But they are doing it the wrong way. They care so much only about winning, not being leaders. And it speaks volumes about their character and their leadership quality.

This election is one of the most important elections of your lifetime. I encourage everyone to vote, no matter matter who your political party is.....just vote!

Never underestimate the power of cheating!

That said, I don't actually think the powers in the Republican Party want to win this time. Looking at who the've picked to lead them, looks like they set out to lose.

When McCain's rats jump ship, you know the shore-crashing of the McCain/Palin ship is near.

I like your optimism, Greg. Fact is, it's too late. The turning point was McCain's choice of VP, an indication of his lack of proper judgment.

    Welcome back.

Just found this on CNN. All is not well in the McCain camp and the issues point to one Sarah Palin. Some very harsh words from McCain's people themselves.

Palin's 'going rogue,' McCain aide says

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (CNN) -- With 10 days until Election Day, long-brewing tensions between GOP vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin and key aides to Sen. John McCain have become so intense, they are spilling out in public, sources say.

Several McCain advisers have suggested to CNN that they have become increasingly frustrated with what one aide described as Palin "going rogue."

A Palin associate, however, said the candidate is simply trying to "bust free" of what she believes was a damaging and mismanaged roll-out.

In my opinion, her showing her ignorance during the Katie Couric interview was enough damage down. And the "associate" defending Palin sounds so much like members on this very forum defending every move Dubya has ever made.

McCain sources say Palin has gone off-message several times, and they privately wonder whether the incidents were deliberate. They cited an instance in which she labeled robocalls -- recorded messages often used to attack a candidate's opponent -- "irritating" even as the campaign defended their use. Also, they pointed to her telling reporters she disagreed with the campaign's decision to pull out of Michigan.

A second McCain source says she appears to be looking out for herself more than the McCain campaign.

"She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone," said this McCain adviser. "She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else.

"Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom."

A Palin associate defended her, saying that she is "not good at process questions" and that her comments on Michigan and the robocalls were answers to process questions.

WTF kind of jibberish is that???

"Her lack of fundamental understanding of some key issues was dramatic," said another McCain source with direct knowledge of the process to prepare Palin after she was picked. The source said it was probably the "hardest" to get her "up to speed than any candidate in history."

Yet another senior McCain adviser lamented the public recriminations.

"This is what happens with a campaign that's behind; it brings out the worst in people, finger-pointing and scapegoating," this senior adviser said.
    -----------------

and the problems go on and on.

And who did not see this coming?

Credit to Juniper Park for mentioning this the other day. Odd how the dirt reached Europe before we hear it here.

I get it. Those other two smilies are French because they're eating the horse instead of just whipping it, like the sexual fetishist on the right.

Then again, horse meat is very nutritious. I still prefer Kangaroo over it though.

    Seriously?

I can not imagine anything else other than the GOP getting that golden shower...from the local and state, to the national level.
