Charles Rangel - GUILTY.. Refusing to leave

Another Dem is going down, After being found guilty of 11 counts of ethics violations, Charlie refuses to go quietly and his fellow Democrats don't know how to deal with it, Charlie wants a slap on the wrist for all his corrupt behavior.... But Charlie has been in the House for quite a long time, 40 years to be exact, so it's safe to assume that Charlie has a long list of dirty laundry on both sides of the isle, more so on the democratic side.

Add into that, the Race factor, his fellow congressman going after a black icon of the Liberal party?... How many of them are going to cave into that?

So what do you think should happen to the corrupt 80 year old fart?

If you want to know what I think, I think the bastard should be expelled without question, he should be led out of the chamber in handcuffs and prosecuted like any other criminal... But that wont happen, people in high places rarely serve time in jail, just ask Bill Clinton.

Charles Rangel, the poster child of why congress needs to adopt TERM LIMITS, I don't know of a better case than this... Hopefully the Republican House will pass a bill to that effect in the next session.

    For those not familiar with the story, here it is;

Ethics panel finds Charles Rangel guilty on 11 counts
    By Fredreka Schouten, USA TODAY

WASHINGTON — Congressman Charles Rangel now awaits punishment from his colleagues after a House subcommittee on Tuesday declared him guilty of 11 counts of breaking ethics rules. The decision dealt the Democrat the biggest setback in his congressional career spanning four decades.

A defiant Rangel, who had walked out of the trial shortly after it began Monday, was not present when the subcommittee delivered the verdict, but he quickly issued a statement, denouncing the decision. "How can anyone have confidence in the decision of the ethics subcommittee when I was deprived of due-process rights, right to counsel and was not even in the room?" Rangel asked. He said he hoped the full committee "will treat me more fairly."

The case shifts to the full ethics committee, which will meet Thursday to weigh punishment for the Harlem congressman. It has the power to push for his expulsion from the House of Representatives, but ethics experts, such as Washington lawyer Jan Baran, say that is unlikely. Previously, a panel investigating Rangel had recommended a reprimand, the mildest sanction the full House can impose.

Rangel, who was ousted this year from the helm of the House Ways and Means Committee, "has already lost power," Baran said. "His reputation is tarnished."

The eight-member ethics subcommittee concluded Rangel broke House rules by using his office to solicit millions of dollars in donations for a non-profit center being erected in his honor and housing a campaign office in a rent-stabilized Manhattan apartment that was set aside for residential use. They also found that he failed to disclose roughly $600,000 in assets and income in reports to Congress and failed to pay taxes to the IRS on rental income earned from a villa he owns in the Dominican Republic.

Just what I suspected, the Democratic bastard get's to keep his seat despite committing CRIMES.

Charlie Rangel's censure: A 'meaningless' punishment?

The House reprimanded the Harlem Democrat for ethics violations with the stiffest penalty short of expulsion. Did he get what he deserved?

What a weak slap on the wrist: Charlie Rangel "ignored the law," says Doug Thompson at Capitol Hill Blue. "He evaded taxes. He lied to investigators and on his official ethics forms," and lived large as he evaded taxes on rental income from his Caribbean villa. Censure may be "the second-toughest punishment the House can hand down," but the only appropriate punishment for Rangel's "slimeball" ways would be "tossing the bum out."

Rangel gets slap on wrist; rest of us would go to jail

The Good Old Boy network has once again gone beyond the pale and protected one of its own. U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., guilty of 11 ethics violations, including tax evasion, has been punished by the proverbial slap on the wrist.

Would any of us ordinary taxpaying citizens, who had cheated the IRS for thousands of dollars, used our employment illegally and unethically not go to jail? Let alone keep our job?

Rangel is, as are all our elected officials, charged with the public trust. Are our politicians entitled to a degree of dishonesty that we ordinary Joes are not?

We know that the old government, in Washington and in Maine did not get it, let’s hope the next one does understand the message from the 2010 elections.

Government is too big, too expensive and too intrusive.

We want all lawbreakers punished. Those on Wall Street, those on Main Street, those on Pennsylvania Avenue and those on the border.

America is and should be fed up with politicians who think of themselves as our leaders and not our representatives. The saddest and most concerning thing is that Rangel and too many of his crony politicians do not think he did anything seriously wrong and are genuinely shocked that Americans want it to stop.

If this isn’t proof enough, watch what happens in the case of Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif.
