Cheers Tony!

Well, the erudite Blair has finally vacated the chair. Let's hope the latest Scot doesn't do the Bush toadying thing. No more illegal wars. Bring back our troops. And bollocks to devolution.

Dude, I thought he was saying cheers to you like it was your birthday of something.

What a dope.

Happy June 27th, Tony Floyd!

Nearly??? You DID have me. And then I saw Tony answer you and was like "cool, Tony Floyd had a birthday."

So all of this is Tony Floyd's fault. Or is it Tony Blair's fault? Hmmm...both have 5 letters in the last name. Conspiracy theory...

That's coincidental. My son received his student loan statement yesterday saying he owes £13,000 for his Honours Degree in Biochemistry. No wonder he's now working in telesales to pay for it. You'll also pay one way or another. Living up there in that shithole is a downpayment for starters. Then I know you have personal baggage which lightens my load.

We all know Exeter is a shithole compared to Edinburgh hence why the tourists much rather visit Edinburgh Anyways my student loan was only about £4,000

I'm guessing the £4k has a direct relationship to the quality of your degree. What was it in? Wine (I know you don't swallow)? Tourism?

Software engineering and AI from Edinburgh university, my parents supported me during my student days + i worked at MORI

And there is nothing wrong with a degree in tourism, tbh it's more practical in employment terms than biochemistry.

LOL are you nuts? Yeah - AI sounds about right. Spot on in fact. No MORI poll needed. So you'd prefer to be an expert on tourism than a biochemist before you get your degree in street smarts? You must hail from a strange place. I've been to 70 countries and never needed a degree, but I can tell you more about them all than any 'tourism' graduate. What is this country coming to? Now it's hard to get a place at university for physics and mathematics. And we're chucking money at sweaty socks while charging our own treble? If you told me you'd read medicine at Edinburgh I'd be impressed. Spare me the all-embracing 'Software Engineering'.

AI -

The science field isn't a field that you can just walk into a job after a degree, in most cases you need specialties, study further into a special sub section of the course or plenty of experience before you get a good job. Tourism however is a course you can just walk into a job after 6 month placement, i had a friend who did tourism and now he has a job 8 month after his degree! i couldn't even find a decent job 1.5 years after my degree. People no longer seem to appreciate a university degree, its all about work experience these days.

Medicine sucks, my sister did medicine, i don't want to dissect the human body as part of my course thank you, i have a phobia for blood nor do i want to bring a real human skull to my house as part of "research"

Actually, practically speaking, I agree with you. But England's universities are just plain useless - dropping downhill steadily. NO maths or physics at Exeter now - plenty of art of course. No finer degree in medicine than that from Edinburgh. My uncle graduated MB CHB there.

Yeah most students in Edinburgh university are from England, Wales or Ireland or foreign. Scots are actually the minorities in Edinburgh university and there is so much competition for lots of courses like engineering, IT and medicine.

When i was at school physics, chemistry and mathematic courses were completely full, nowdays i hear hardly anyone chooses these courses, people tend to take the easy rout with home economics, photography and other nonsense. Hence why Scotland's education is like the third world where 1 in 5 adults has problems with words and numbers. (figure from the governments own tv ads [ learn direct scotland ] )

Anyways i personally blame the parents, i was told by mine, either get a degree or become a break layer tomorow (no disrespect to break layers world wide)
