It has come out that Premiere Radio Networks, a subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications ,
has been using actors to call in to radio shows including the shows of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and other right wing talk show hosts without letting the listeners know that the calls are staged:

I'm not sure how much evidence people need to show that the far right wing of corporate America in this country is manipulating the news and information the American people are getting.
You would think people would remember when Fox News was stirring things up in regards to the funding of the ground zero mosque in New York City.
The FoxNews cast would ask with outrage who was funding the Ground Zero Mosque knowing the whole time that one of those funding the mosque was Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Tala, the 2nd largest shareholder of News Corp, Fox New's parent company:

The second largest shareholder in News Corp. -- the parent company of Fox News -- has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to causes linked to the imam planning to build a Muslim community center and mosque near Ground Zero in Manhattan, says a report from Yahoo!News.
According to the report from Yahoo!'s John Cook, Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, who owns seven percent of News Corp., "has directly funded [Imam Feisal Abdul] Rauf's projects to the tune of more than $300,000."
Cook reports that Prince Al-Waleed's personal charity, the Kingdom Foundation, donated $305,000 to Muslim Leaders of Tomorrow, a project sponsored by two of Rauf's initiatives, the American Society for Muslim Advancement and the Cordoba Initiative, which is building the Manhattan mosque.
That Fox News' second-largest shareholder, after Rupert Murdoch, has financial links to the "Ground Zero mosque" will be seen as ironic by critics of the news network, who have watched with chagrin as the network's talking heads attempt to link the mosque to radical Islamism....

Why do people still call Fox "news"? It's a propaganda station -nothing more and nothing less. In Canada a rightwing corporation tried to establish a new 24 hour "news" station modeled after Fox News, but their application was denied because - "any news that the licensee knows is false or misleading and that endangers or is likely to endanger the lives, health or safety of the public." - is not allowed. (Canada already has two right-leaning broadcasters CanWest Global and CTV)
Simply put - if you cannot produce news that is factual and free of hate - you cannot be a category one broadcaster. The rightwing screamed foul but seriously - who wants to be knowingly lied to and then try to protect the broadcasters right to do so!? Why not just watch the Onion - at least it's funny.
But then if Fox News wasn't around what would Colbert and Stewart lampoon every night?
Kudos to Canada for maintaining a level of dignity long lost here in America.
I must admit Fox News has been a boon to Colbert and Stewart but these two are willing to smack down anyone who is foolish enough to allow their hypocrisy to show through on the big screen.
It's no secret they are more liberal than conservative as far as political minds might consider it but they are just as willing to expose a liberal for his actions as they are a conservative. I"m sure Charlie Rangel has no love for Mr Stewart's lampooning him for his recent scandal...

I learned that most of the news was crap in the 1980's with Iran/Contra. I actually went to Nicaragua to find out for myself what was going in 1983. It taught me lessons that no other experience has as to what the American people are fed to believe and what is actually happening.Time to move out from under that rock.

And no doubt some liberal talk show hosts use shills as well. However, it is ever so apparent here that the TOP mud slingers are using this service and that it is now exposed that Clear Channel's subsidiary Premiere Radio are the ones behind this effort.
So while you know it's going on feel free to also know that CLEAR CHANNEL COMMUNICATIONS is one of the major players behind this subversion of American politics.....
Are you saying Fox is to blame for a Canadian denial of application? Either what you write here is purposely misleading or that country is in very deep trouble. The most troubling aspect is the bozo insinuation that only conservatives lie.How can you pass judgement on a news channel if you don't watch it? What I have seen of Glen Beck for instance is that he provides evidence to back up his accusations. He even has a hotline that people can call if they think he has told a lie. You and others keep blithering about Fox but you provide little evidence, except that some buffoon would-be comedian (millionaire by the way) says it is so. Are you going to try to convince us that Acorn was not a corrupt organization or that Van Jones is not a communist or that Nancy Pelosi has her head on straight? Surely, you jest.

While not a paid actor, we had a similar controversy here with our ex-Mayor's assistant calling into a local talk radio show.

One of Mayor Larry O’Brien’s few remaining original staffers resigned yesterday after he was exposed for using a fake name to call a radio talk show in support of his boss’s controversial $50 snow removal levy.
Our municipal government isn't based on the party system, but for what it's worth...this ex-Mayor was on the right of the spectrum.
