    Exclamation Dick Cheney fears being charged as a war criminal, former Colin Powell aide says

    This is nothing new or surprising to many of us on this very forum who have stated this many years ago.

    While Bush may have worked a little magic by including a Presidential Pardon (in advance) in 2005 for his entire administration, he can not do a thing about an international tribunal or investigation by the Hague or other international bodies investigating war crimes.

    Cheney can have Milosevic's old room and bed.

    The sniping between Dick Cheney and his erstwhile Bush administration colleagues ratcheted up Tuesday when a long-time aide to Colin Powell said the former vice president is afraid of being prosecuted as a war criminal.

    Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, who served as chief of staff to Powell when he was secretary of state in the first term of President George W. Bush, said Cheney has changed into an unrecognizable figure since his time as secretary of defense under President George H.W. Bush.

    "He's developed an angst and almost a protective cover, and now he fears being tried as a war criminal," Wilkerson told ABC News, "because that's the way someone who's decided he's not going to be prosecuted acts: boldly, let's get out in front of everybody, let's act like we are not concerned and so forth when in fact they are covering up their own fear that somebody will Pinochet him."

    Former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet was arrested for war crimes years after relinquishing power.

    Wilkerson, who has known Cheney for decades, said Cheney has become a "very vindictive person" and "I simply don't recognize Mr. Cheney anymore."

    Wilkerson has been an outspoken critic of the Bush administration since he left the State Department in 2005. In addition to serving as Powell's chief of staff at the State Department, Wilkerson was a top aide to Powell when the Army general was chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the first Bush administration. At that time, Cheney was defense secretary.

    Cheney is promoting a new memoir, "In My Time: A Personal and Political Memoir," and said ahead of Tuesday's release that heads would explode when the book came out.

    Powell shot back, telling CBS' "Face the Nation" that the former vice president was taking "cheap shots."

    "I think Dick overshot the runway," Powell told CBS News' Bob Schieffer, adding that his tease that the memoir will "makes heads explode" is a comment he would have expected from a gossip columnist, not a former U.S. vice president.

    Just some light reading while I am building sites.

    Thanks for your concern, but I am doing fine in regards to increasing earnings. If you need advice, please follow along the non-political threads to see the site building activity.

    If people can only do one thing at a time and are incapable of multi-tasking, they're in the wrong business.

    Then again, some people on the forum don't even appear to be the least bit interested in domains, domaining, site building, seo, marketing, and so on.

    And, I would like to note regarding your note:

    Note: I am not talking about politics - Not involved in any political Party..
    You do seem to be following and commenting in a lot of political threads as well. I hope your time management skills are serving you well.

    16,774 Posts on DNF and 6000 posts at Mobility in less than 5 years, that's 22,774 posts. 56 months from 12/06 is approx 1680 days, divide this by his # of posts and you have a average of 13.5 posts every single day of the last 5 years..... Incredible

    I had to correct my earlier math, if I'm wrong on this please let me know.

    Holder and Obama Selling Guns to Drug Dealers While Angling to Take Yours Away.

    Mac Slavo

    About six months ago the Obama administration and a host of other concerned politicians were blasting mainstream airwaves with the view that lax US gun laws made it simple for Mexican drug cartels to obtain US made weapons, which were then used to commit crimes against Mexicans and Americans alike. The proposed solution to stop the flow of guns, because border security doesn’t make sense, was to restrict gun laws in the US to make it more difficult for the average American to enjoy their Second Amendment protections by, for example, closing gun show “loop holes” (we’re not exactly clear on what they meant by this – as there are no loop holes in purchasing firearms from registered dealers but that surely didn’t stop Obama from signing an executive order banning the M1 Garande and Carbie rifles).

    Psst...not mad. If you will notice I also post comical stuff (like last night the woman who paid $180 for a wooden iPad at McDonalds) and pretty much post odd, humorous, and yes...some political musings. I have numerous sites set up as my home browser (cnn,reuters,local news,bbc,npr are some of the world news) and typically post what I see as being interesting.

    In the meantime, I have finished a very, very heavy course load (391 contact hours) and certification. It was not as difficult as I imagined it would be but was time consuming.

    At any rate, some have difficulty focusing on one thing...or as some have posted all they have is a focus on one thing.

    And, the bottom line is I would have to agree that Cheney is a war criminal and should be held as such. Why would I change my beliefs in 2011 when I stated the same thing in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. Should not come as a big surprise that others are speaking the same language, even from within the party and powers-that-be. And, knowing that potential crimes were committed from the offices of Attorney General on up to the Presidency, Bush granted Presidential Pardons to his administration and passed it buried in a bill passed by Congress.

    And the rest is history (or not...seeing so many are intent on either re-writting history or omitting certain facts about history from the textbooks).

    Funny an aide of Colin Powell talking about war criminals. Powell's military career got an early boost because as a young officer he helped lead the attempted whitewash of the My Lai massacre (a slaughter of an entire village, including women and children) by US troops. He has never been a man of principle, or even a notable military mind. It seems that once he threw his support behind Obama (another move most likely calculated to further his career after retirement), he became considered a man of integrity. Right or wrong, at least Cheney actions don't appear to be simply ways to enhance his resume.

    I did not know about Powell's link to the My Lai massacre, Thank you for posting.

    It's quite entertaining to read the opinions of those who suddenly give their backing to a conservative or republican who abandoned the Bush Administration, something they would not otherwise do. Or when a member of Bush's cabinet comes out with a new book and talks trash about his boss, all in a pathetic attempt to sell books.

    If it's against Bush and it's from his own party, it must be true.... Always latching on to anything or anyone to reaffirm their own personal and warped beliefs.

    Damn! Now Conde Rice is criticizing Cheney.

    I'm beginning to think this is a white-on-black thing!

    Or could it be that Cheney is the Dick many knew he was?

    Told ya you should have watched dateline.

    Actually, quite the opposite. People responding to his book and his remarks are saying precisely that - he is trying to rewrite his resume (and the resume of others) by giving quite contriving accounts of how things happened (including dissing his boss - Dubya).

    Interesting that you should find race to be the most prominent features of these 3 prominent people. I would have thought their political or personal values, or their personal histories, to be the prime motivations. Why do you think race is the relevant issue here? And how does Perry's criticism of Cheney fit in with that?

    And why would Cheney, who rather old and not in great health, need a new resume? I think you mean (correct me if I'm wrong) that he's trying to rewrite history. That's quite a different thing, and generally what people do when they publish their memoirs. It's a very rare memoir that says "I was wrong in just about everything I did, and everybody else was right."

    That was a poor attempt at making this more than it is not...giving fodder to the conspiracy theorists.

    Wasn't Colin Powell the one who convinced congress that Iraq had WMD's? Based on evidence that HE and the CIA gathered?

    If it's anyone who should be charged with War Crimes, shouldn't it be COLIN POWELL?

    And while were at it, we can put Obama on trial for ILLEGALLY bombing Libya that resulted in the DEATHS of innocent civilians.

    To the OP who bought into the propaganda and LIES that Colin Powell was somehow setup by the Bush administration, your a much bigger FOOL than I thought, or should I say a much bigger DICK than I thought.

    A word to the MODERATORS , before you think about editing out anything in this post, READ this in the OP's own words;

    Hey, freedom of speech is perfectly fine. Call the president a dick, cock sucker or anything else. I really and truthfully don't care.

    But, don't object to or impede someone else's freedom of speech if someone calls the OP a cock sucker.

    Seriously, where does it say it is okay to be the deliverer of an insult but it is not okay to be the on the receiving end of a similar or same insult?

    Call someone a cock sucker then turn around and alert the mods and demand someone else's comments be deleted.

    That is the freedom of speech some want to be exercised...their particular form of speech or protect them from other's attacks. Perhaps it would have been better and be more politically correct if the founders had put in Freedom of Speech(s) to portray that more than one person has that right and that that right applies to all forms of speech...and speakers.

    According to the OP's own statements here, it's perfectly justifiable to call the OP the same name He or She is calling a public official;

    The OP is DICK!

    I was not able to attend the Dick Cheney book signing at the Nixon Library last week because it was sold out, I did go to the Library that day to see the 911 Memorial they had, Unfortunately I wasn't able to meet Mr. Cheney..... And the tickets for Cheney's book signing at the Ronald Reagan Library are sold out too, but I'm on the waiting list so hopefully I'll be invited, it's a sit down dinner and includes a autographed book by Mr. Cheney himself... Wish me luck.

    I haven't read the book yet, but I plan too... If you any of you want a copy, you can purchase one on Amazon;
