A Brevard County man who allegedly feigned a disability in order to get someone to change his soiled diapers and feed him has been arrested.
Sean A. Kelly, 39, of Cocoa, was arrested Wednesday for organized fraud, according to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
Kelly is accused of pretending to have a mentally handicapped brother who was unable to take care of himself because of an accident then hiring people to take care of the brother, who didn't exist. He would call for services using the name Mike Kelly, deputies said.
The disabled brother, deputies said, turned out to be Kelly himself. Kelly is not disabled. The home health care nurses would feed and change the soiled diapers of the "handicapped" man. One of Kelly's alleged victims went to deputies after she wasn't paid for her services.
In August, a second victim went to authorities after hearing about the first case. The second victim said she provided similar services to Kelly and was owed about $7,000 in back payments. The second victim was never paid for her services.
Earlier this month, a third person notified the Sheriff's Office that a man claiming to be Kelly was looking for home health care for his disabled brother.
Deputies arrested Kelly at his home and transported him to the Brevard County Jail, where he is being held on $5,500 bond.
Deputies believe there may be additional victims. Authorities encourage anyone who may have been a victim to call Crimeline at 1-800-423-8477.
