Register Today on DNForum IT'S FREE!It was just one week ago I created a thread regarding the outraged of Dell closing a new facility here in Winston Salem, taking incentive money, and bolting to their "partners" in Mexico and Indonesia.
Today it was one of the featured pieces on BusinessWeek.com's Technology news.
Dell's Plant Closure Raises Anger Over Incentives
Do government incentives aimed at luring businesses to a state or city work?
There’s already a body of evidence that they often do not. And news out of North Carolina this week shows just how quickly these headline-grabbing deals can go awry. While the business press on Dell Computers this week focused on its new smart phones and $3.9 billion bid for tech services provider Perot Systems, in North Carolina the news on Dell was all about the closure this coming January of its plant in Forsyth county. The move will put 900 people out of work. And it’s doing collateral damage to the local incentives system that offered the Texas-based computer maker $280 million in potential tax breaks and grants to locate the plant in the state four years ago.
One week ago when I posted this story on DNF, I had to put up with non-sense and other members calling me a liar, making shit up, and saying it was not true and went as far as to threaten me by saying I was going to be sued and allegedly forwarded the thread to Dell's Legal department.
Even when these news features, interviews, and television clips were posted, the disparaging remarks continued to come. They continued to attempt to discredit me.
Anyone who thinks that I am stupid enough to make up a story like this and fabricate what the Dell spokesperson is saying (on camera) - then you are a few lightbulbs shy of being called bright.
To them, I say the sound of munch, munch, munch (as they eat their own words) is a sweet sound.

You might want to use Google for spell checking and perhaps find a grammar usage program as well. For spelling I just type the word as best I can into Google and it usually brings up the correct spelling if I made a mistake. I'd start with words like intellectual and racist as these are words I'd really want to get correct when debating with a colleague. Just a thought.
If you trying to be funny and spell them wrong purposely to prove you are not an intellectual I apologize for not catching your sarcasm.
Dell Petition Acknowledges Shift To Mexico
Just saw this on our local news site:
The petition states: “Our (Dell’s) work volume is being transferred to a global manufacturing network.
The work will be given to third-party providers who operate in Mexico and other countries around the globe.”
You're thirty years to f*cking late. Congressmen have their money for making Asia top dog and they're flippin the bird at us (Rangel,etc.).
You can always petition El Presidente to bring dem jobs back. You could be waiting a spell though.
Might be out of town visiting Chavez or one of the other buds.

Mexican labor costs basically are 10 percent of U.S. costs, according to information through the American Manufacturing Trade Action Coalition (AMTAC) in Washington.
Labor costs in China, where most major furniture manufacturers have relocated from the Triad this decade, can be 5 percent to 8 percent of American labor costs, AMTAC reports
Seems BusinessWeek has been following Dell as well.
There is a piece today that denotes that perhaps Dell is offering too little, too late.
Dell's Extreme Makeover
How Michael Dell is trying to change almost everything about the computer company he founded
Well we will be part of Mexico by 2050, so may be some of the ones here illegal, will not find work and go back to Mexico where the real jobs will be.![]()

A Victory (of sorts):
Dell Agrees To Repay $26M In Local Incentives
Dell Acknowledges Local Incentive Figures Are Correct
WINSTON-SALEM -- Dell has agreed to repay $26.4 million in incentives to the local community, representing every cent paid locally to lure the company to Forsyth County, Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines said Thursday.
According to a letter sent by Joines to Dell representatives on Monday, Dell must repay the money within 30 days.
Joines said he received a letter from Dell Thursday acknowledging that the figures presented by the city and county were, in fact, correct.
Another bit of good news...
Dell Returns $1.5 Million In Incentives To State
$1.5M Returned To State Coffers
Plus, Dell is in the process of repaying $26 Million in local incentives.
Gee, you cleared that up so well. Do you feel better for it? I think we made a connection here. Thank you.
No, dear. This is the third time he has tried to associate the Dell plant closing as being related to Obama and anything with Dem in it.
Mr. Gregcyber can associate the plant closing to anyone OR anything he wants, an opinion does not, i repeat not warrant personal attacks, By attacking others your inviting them to do the same to you, You should be respectful of other members opinions no matter how much you disagree with them.
