So when Republicans were in charge the high gas prices were caused by corruption and a government who caters to the oil companies. Democrats (and the media) "felt our pain" and made it seem like it was killing the country.
**BUT**
Now that the Democrats are in charge, we should drive better cars and the media is saying that it is a good thing by saving lives and creating jobs.
Gotta love political hypocrisy.

Actually both sides are right.
Oil prices are high because of a multitude of reasons.....
Supply and demand
weather
OPEC
Oil futures speculation
Political and refinery issues
Oil futures speculators should be forced to take control of oil barrels instead of trading "air". They are responsible for the price at the pump. Once again Wall Street sticks it to Main Street.
"Supply and demand"
So if we increase supply by drilling HERE in the USA, prices will drop?
The Republicans in the House passed a bill today that would do just that;
House Approves Bill to Lift Drilling Moratorium
by Chad Pergram | May 12, 2011
The House of Representatives voted to open more of the nation's oceans for oil and gas exploration on Thursday by a vote of 243 to 179.
The "Reversing President Obama's Offshore Moratorium Act," requires the Interior Department to set a production goal of three million barrels of oil per day for its 2012-2017 leasing plan.
In order to reach that target, the legislation requires the department to hold lease sales off the coast of Southern California, in the Arctic Ocean, off Alaska's Bristol Bay, and in the Atlantic Ocean from Maine to North Carolina.
Republicans say that the bill, along with two other drilling measures passed earlier this month, would create 1.2 million jobs and lower the price of oil. The Congressional Budget Office says that the offshore lease sales would generate $800 million in revenue over ten years.
The Obama administration released a statement opposing the bill Wednesday. The White House argued that the proposal would undermine the current leasing process and mandate drilling leases without input from the affected states.

Of course, should we expect anything otherwise?
The same bastards who are opposed to drilling here in the US, are the same ones grilling the Oil Companies today...... Like Draggar said, "Gotta love political hypocrisy"

Please vote Republican in 2012, America can not sustain another 4 years
of Liberal policies that are fiscally and socially destroying the country..
Shortage of oil is not whats causing higher prices at the pumps as the greedy fossil fuel industry would have us believe. The problem is their manipulation of the oil markets. All of our "leaders" in Washington know this but unfortunatly most of them are owned by the greedy bastards who are making insane profits from higher prices.
i don't know whats going on in the states but here prices go up and then drop in the area of 5-10 cents per litre daily lately. i've never see anything like it before. the canadian government has asked the oil companies to explain to a commission their reasoning for the flucuating prices...we'll see if they even agree to doing that. i doubt they will.
There is no shortage nor decrease in supplies or delivery. This is all oil speculators and Wall Street. Every time something happens in the middle east they drive prices up. In reality, supplies are very high and demand is low. An unfortunate consequence of the Tsunami in Japan was the closing of numerous ports and refineries and a large decrease in demand. That actually created a huge surplus as Japan is very dependent on oil imports.
I guess we are fortunate in my locale. The highest prices I have seen is $3.82 but now dropping.
It's looks like Obama, our "Politician and Chief" want's to expand oil production in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico... WOW!
Isn't it amazing what a re-election bid can do?... It makes you do all sorts of things you would NEVER otherwise do. Obama knows that's he needs a record that's popular with Americans.... For example "Immigration", he intentionally ramped up deportations so he can tell America we had more deportations under his Presidency than any other president, but the number of Deportations is a FRACTION of the number of Illegal entering the US.
Now he's doing the same with Oil, He's needs a talking point when the debates come up.. When he's called on the Gulf moratorium and restricting drilling, he's going to us what a great leader he was by expanding drilling in Alaska and the Gulf..
Make no mistake about, Obama does NOT want to do this, It goes against everything he believes in, The only reason he's doing it is because of his 2012 re-election bid... America is moderately conservative and he knows it, so look for Obama to take more conservative positions, moving more to the middle, only to reneg on them should he be re-elected. (which he wont)
He wont be re-elected because voters will see him for the Fraud that he is... They were fooled once, they wont be fooled again.

Smart politicans, (as I told you Obama was long before he was elected Prez) know they have to win the approval of the majority of the people. That's exactly what Obama did before and will do again. The dummy repugs haven't figured this out yet. They have people like Palin, Trump, and now Gingrich (how long will it be before he bows out?) who don't stand a chance of pleasing the majority. Its gonna take someone who actually supports the middle and lower class to beat Obama.....and the repugs don't have anyone like that.
Democrat and Republican don't really matter anymore. Both parties are full of **** ups who care little about this country. The only person who has declared so far that has a chance of beating Obama is Ron Paul. He is up there in age but sound on most issues that conservatives hold dear.... can probably get most of the middle of the road voters and will even steal some of Obama's base.
