Exclamation Getting ready for an Epidemic.

Yes, this is about swine flu.

If you don't want to read this then don't.

If you want to know how you can protect yourself and what your rights are then read on.

Here are some of the latest news.

Today, the CDC and WHO announced that they will no longer keep count and publish individual cases of swine flue.

Why?

Because it is so widespread and expected to get much worse.

Why?

Swine flu tally halted as school year fears loom
Officials stop counting cases, focus on possible mutation of new virus

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31962005...lth-swine_flu/
Earlier in the day I mentioned the possible upsurge of new case and I just got confirmation of the above news.

Excepts on what is going on and why these steps are being taken.

Worldwide cases of the new H1N1 swine flu virus are spreading so fast that overwhelmed global health officials have stopped counting and officials with the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say they'll soon follow suit.

WHO had reported nearly 95,000 cases including 429 deaths worldwide. But the numbers are outdated, with Britain estimating it had 55,000 new cases last week alone.

There is much more news regarding all of this is that way too much to go into. And I do not want to spread fear.

Some friendly tips.

If you feel like you are sick or have flu symptoms, you just may have it.

Get seen by a healthcare professional.

Clinics and hospitals and waiting rooms are a breeding ground for germs and viruses. If you have to be in a place like this or with a loved one, wear or ask for a mask.

If you are sick, wear a mask. You are the one spreading germs so cover your mouth.

Key points to remember:

This is NOT typical flu
This is NOT typical flu season

Most of All ...

If you have to go to the hospital for any reason, make sure all caregivers wash their hands. Contact is the number one way of spreading germs - not just flu germs.

If you have flu like symptoms, YOU should be the one wearing a mask.

If you are immunocomprimised in any way (Chemo or Rad therapy), insist all people entering the room wear a mask.

Stay informed.
Monitor you local and state news and health declarations.

It's no big deal. Normal flu kills more people, percentage wise.

What if someone told you that you could not have the flu vaccine because -

- you are non-essential personnel
- medical personnel would be the first to get it
- there is not enough stockpiled
- there is not enough being made
- there is not enough to go around
- it can not be made fast enough
- the available supplies may be held for ransom

or, worse ;

- it would not do any good because the virus is mutating
- the virus is resistant to current treatment

hmm...

You could try
1. Obama said the "very best care" is every citizen's right when he raised my taxes.

or

2. The 9mm pressed against your temple says different

The issue is this -

Even though the drugs are made for the big pharmas, they are not made in the US. And Britan is in the same situation.

The main drug company headquarters may be in the US and UK but they produce only 10-20% of the product in that country.

Can you say outsourcing?
Can you say "we are keeping it for ourselves"?

Honestly, these are real conditions and possible scenarios that our governments are exploring - as well as potential solutions to solving these issues.

Why so alarmist Doc? Seems like a pretty low fatality rate (unless you are in that percentage)?

You know the audacity of hope will just make lead into gold.
The morning headline after the epedemic will be:

"Obama fixes economy - Unemployment drops 6 points overnight"

Like I said, you don't have to read a bit of it.

Not alarmist at all.

The links I have posted are news bits released today.

This is news happening right now.

Frankly, I could give a shit what people do or don't do.

When you have information and chose to ignore the info then, from my standpoint, there is no pity for the stupid.

If you have school aged children, you should be worried and concerned about what your school system is doing to ensure that staff is capable of properly monitoring children. You should be inquiring now as to what the plans are in the event of an outbreak and how well your county is prepared to handle large populations of sick. In addition, these same school systems and county health departments should be releasing (in advance) precautions the parent should be taking, such as signs and symtoms and keeping the child home.

There is not a damn thing normal about this flu. Nothing.

I am not trying to scare anyone or be alarmist. I guess it is just my nature to pass on information that may benefit someone.

Norway (a country with a population of approximately 4.5 million) has ordered more than 9 million vaccines. That means that every citizen will have 2 shots each. I only hope the vaccine is ready before the entire world is sick.

Another signal of concern:

Legal immunity set for swine flu vaccine makers
Lessons of 1976 outbreak prompt early action to warn off lawsuits

From what I've gathered swine flu isn't extremely deadly but it is very contagious. Am I getting this correct?
