    Ghost Town

DNF is a ghost town lately, I can hear my posts echo. Have that many people folded? Perhaps the watercooler has changed locations? What's the word on this?

Too much bs, politics, bickering, rivalries, emotions, etc. Half the stuff posted here anymore is crap and the other half is over policed. I too think DNF has lost some of it's thunder.

Agreed -- it is an odd phenonemon.

Perhaps, it is due to the increasing foreclosures, bankruptcies, unemployment -- the fallout -- forum visitations decline --

DNForum is the premier destination for discussing Domain Investments/News -- the politics/controversial sections are too distracting and should be purged -- this would ramp up Domain Name forum conversations --

I wonder if Twitter has also pulled some visitors away? Domainers still seem pretty active over there.

The thing about the political forum is that if we didn't have it, then it would spill out into other sections. At least we try to keep it consolidated to one subforum.

You know there is a solution and DS does it. The political section can be set up so any new thread doesn't come up in the today's/unread posts section. I don't care whether you do it or not it doesn't bother me but it does a lot of other people here. Its something to look into.

    Nothing much to comment on.

I never really sell domain off DNF because of the title rules.

What ever happen to the DotComGod Monthly newsletter-posting in the exclusive section?

If mods spent as much time posting domain related posts as they do posting in the humor and political sections that would spur some interest, at least for me.

These days I only briefly pop in to see what the news and what is for sale, and I may read a joke posted in the humor section, but those jokes are not what I come here for.

The amount and quality of post is down.

Simple, there's no buying action except for premium one worders and good numerics as far as I can see.

Except for a somewhat slow May, 2009 has been a spectacular year in domain sales, and June has already been a top month for us and it's only 2/3 done. Many of those sales are from DNF. I think some of the nonsense lowball selling/reselling has slowed, but otherwise things are better than ever.

Looking through some of your recent posts listing the one word category killer names you have offered I am not suprised you have done well ! Which only serves to reinforce my observation above !

Thanks, but those have really not been the majority of sales... these days it's a lot of smaller sales in the $500 - $1500 range that have made the numbers good.

I hope that gives some inspiration, it's not all bad these days.

I find more quality buyers here in dnforum. I didn't get a proper sale in the other forum.

Not sure why but I know a lot of domainers are posting on Facebook lately. I have nearly 200 FB friends and the vast majority are domainers, including a number of heavy hitters.

However, that may not be the reason for any alleged slowdown here as it could be due to seasonal factors and the economy combined with so many sharply trimming portfolios (and not buying too) due to lower ppc, etc and being unable to cover renewal fees as a result.
