Rehash of old story from about 6 months back. Ammo is now very easy to find. True, some pistol ammo is still hard to find like .380, but you caneven find that stuff if you know where to look.

19 years later, we are seeing more of the same:
America armed, but guns not necessarily loaded
Gun enthusiasts claim Obama's election is fueling demand for guns, ammo

I'm buying credit, banking, loan, insurance related generics in .com, .net, .org with high search volumes/traffic. Will consider typos too! - PLEASE PM with name, info, & asking price!
I luckily bought a whole case of .380 JHP by Black Hills early on..amazing ammo, probably the best .380 there is. Impossible to find now..will be gone for a long time to come sorry to say brother.
Bought a bunch of boxes of Speer Gold Dot and Cor-Bon .32 ACP too, thank God!![]()
For you Five Seven owners out there... BigDogAmmo.com still has cases of the ss192 rounds that are 2000+ fps..$999 for a whole case of 2000 rounds, really powerful high velocity stuff, highly recommended. Will penetrate kevlar no prob..

It was back in the news today because there was no new news to report, or maybe they are blowing smoke up peoples azz's as usual. Whats the use of this article if it is saying that ammo is so hard to find? It isn't.
They are even using some of the exact same quotes they used in the story 6+ months ago.
I will say that 5.56 was horribly expensive & very hard to find 6 months ago, that is not the case anymore, I can have 100-100,000 rounds delivered to my door if/when I need to.
Yes, we had this discussion on here previously.
Perhaps with the hunting season fast approaching there is an even bigger demand on certain shells and rounds.
The shortage for sportsmen is different than the scarcity of ammo for some police forces earlier this year, a dearth fueled by an increase in ammo use by the military in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“We are working overtime and still can’t keep up with the demand,” said Al Russo, spokesman for North Carolina-based Remington Arms Company, which makes bullets for rifles, handguns and shotguns. “We’ve had to add a fourth shift and go 24-7. It’s a phenomenon that I have not seen before in my 30 years in the business.”
The new Sig Sauer P238 is very small..easily fits in your pocket, I would take the Micro Desert Eagle .380 though as first choice for this round as it's very "snagless" and made by a really great American company..small, heavy/solid, basically 100% reliable with it's gas assisted blow-back (like an AR-15) and very well made as it is basically a US made clone of an old paratrooper gun called the Kevin which is a time tested design, only issue is the hard heavy trigger but I personally like it that way so I don't blow my balls off accidently as of course like most pocket guns there is no external safety. https://www.magnumresearch.com/Micro_Eagle.asp
It's really a small gun that fits in the palm of your hand, does'nt print much in your pocket at all in the black hawk pocket holster which fits it like a glove..I always forget it's there! Well, that is until....![]()

This shortage refers mostly to handgun ammo... For handgun enthusiasts and target shooters, I doubt this will effect them very much, because most choose to reload their own ammo, because it's SO much cheaper.
If this is going to effect anyone, it will be the gun owner who uses his or her gun for practice and self defense, But even then, they have the option of buying reloads at the indoor gun ranges... You can even buy reloaded ammo at the Gun Shows, the last one we were at had an abundance of it.
My husband reloads all our ammo, I don't think we ever bought a box from the store, ever.... He's got all the equipment to reload 38/357, 38 super, 9mm and 45. With that comes all the different powders.. It's really not that hard once you know how to do it.
If you want to stock up on anything, Stock up on guns that don't have the built in safety locks, California law made it mandatory that you cant buy a gun without one.

I thought the rush for ammo took place every 4 years, regardless of which party wins.

Cabelas actually has buffalo bore .380 - 90 grain JHP ammo in stock right now as we speak...probably the best .380 ammo you can buy if your .380 can handle the +P loads. I have'nt found .380 in stock online for months lol
You guy's have all the pot friendly laws and we have all the gun friendly laws here...I think we need to switch states!Originally Posted by Raider

What are using JHP for?. It's great ammo for self protection, but a waste if your using it for practice.
And I hope all of you are saving the spent cases.

I only shoot what I carry in my guns..that way I know for a fact it cycles reliably and how/where it shoots..that does cost more, but hey it's a precious life we live.
I never understood the shooting of low velocity "range" ammo in a self defense weapon when that is NOT what you will be shooting in the event you have to use your weapon in a real life or death situation. A FMJ bullet traveling at 700-800 fps in .380 for instance is going to behave completely different as well as "feel" much different than a higher powered HP round or +P HP for that matter.
Now, if I want to just let off steam & blast off a bunch of rounds of course I am going to shoot cheap FMJ/ball ammo, which I sometimes do, but without a doubt I encourage people to shoot what they plan to carry in their gun if at all possible..even if it's just 1 box worth. What is the difference in cost $10-$15? Big whoop.
Found a nice little write-up on the Micro Eagle too...great gun.

Just my wooden nickel on that matter babe.![]()

Yeah, FMJ or JHP does cycle in the chamber far better than lead, and you don't have to clean it out of the bore like you do with leaded bullets either.... But every gun has it's purpose, If your shooting stock guns for self defense, and your going through a box of 50 or 100 a week, then yeah, shoot the metal jacketed full loads, But for the Target shooter who goes through 1000-3000 rnds a week, light loads with lead bullets is the only way to go.... Once you start shooting the light loads, you wont want to go back to the heavy.
As for the Sig, you know that's one of my favorites.. you can shoot almost anything through them and they wont jamb up, unlike the Colt 1911's, best ammo for those is ball like you say, unless of course you have it modified.
When I sell a domain, this the next gun were buying;

Great for shooting behind a barricade.

That's why there are different types.
I range shoot both for the benefit of feel.
I keep home-defense rounds on all my shotguns, HP in the handguns.
I don't have to worry about rounds or shot penetrating walls. All the walls in our house are solid brick with plaster on them. Built in the 1840's, this is one solid house.
Oh boy, I need to stay clear of this forum.
