Pastors accuse thousands of children, leading to torture or death

WTF! is wrong with people.

From the same region who's elders, tribal leaders, and "doctors" who proclaimed the cure for aides was having sex with a virgin (which lead to months old baby being brutally mutilated for sex) comes this new twist - proclaiming children as witches!

I am horrified at this.

The project that I am involved with in Ethiopia, Ethiopia is perhaps one of the more "christian" of nations in Africa. But still, rule of the tribe or the village is mostly dictated by the elders and other tribal leaders.

It bothers me to see these ill-advised policies and decrees being accepted as the norm or law handed down.

At times, I honestly believe that this is their method of decreasing their numbers for survival in difficult times. Who knows.

As for the machete hacking, these are some of the most brutal attacks that one can imagine. Sharpened steel is unforgiving.

Now what you fail to understand about my comment is people USING religion to get the victims into these particular situations, not the people acting on them. If you're going to toss around words like ignorance, then you might want to display at least a basic understanding of human history. Dig up casualty figures from every major human conflict in the last 1,000 years, and you'll see that not even 1% of those were caused by religion.
