Average wait times in my area has been around 2 hours all week. The last time I voted early I was in and out in less thsn 15 minutes.

I'm predicting one of the best voter turnouts in decades. Alot is riding the line this year.

Good for you, draggar, to get it done, early to boot.

We have 'early voting' in Texas. I voted last Tuesday! It's a shame, we know who's going to win... just like the OJ trial - have to prevent what will happen in the streets! Heck, they burn the city when they win NBA / National Championship... The shape of this Society, Country - it's ALL just flat MONEY & GREED. If the politicians are NOT crooks when they go in - just give them a little time. After seeing the O'b / Harpo / Oprah show last night, I'm thinking about how many people & companies he OWEs through the contributions.
The economy? With the 'subprime' ordeal, thousands need to go to jail. Laws - what's legal? what's downright FRAUD? Went to one son's home closing and they wanted him to sign 2 HUD Settlement statements - one for the 1st and the other for the 2nd - so they could sell the 1st before they Recorded the 2nd. I said 'Hell NO'! THE LAW IS 'ONE HOUSE - ONE HUD SETTLEMENT SHEET'! Then another son & wife (young) buy a $129,000 house with NO down while reporting $40,000 total income... hey, they said like everyone else - if they will give us the money, we'll take it!
And many more issues, the stock market? LAST YEAR, New record highs - more shares traded than in history! RIGHT! I was 'day trading' $50,000 a day. Then with one key stroke, I activated my Ameritrade MARGIN' account and WALA - I was trading $100,000 a day! With many people like me, a new $50,000 (x's thousands) was injected into the market! Was it my money - NO. Just trading FALSE paper - on paper. If I lost $2,000 instead of $1,000, they knew they could take it from my original $50,000, THEY COULDN'T GET HURT. Nothing but inflated trading just like the $140 barrel of oil Wall Street bid up - had absolutely nothing to do with 'Supply & Demand'.
VOTING, sometimes a real JOKE - look at the voting in St Louis when MRS Carnahan won over Ashcroft... Taxis, cigs, wine and... Acorn?
SPANISH? I live in Houston, someone asked me if I know a foreign language? I said 'Yes, in TEXAS - english is a foreign language!' I Would move to Hawaii or Alaska... but O'b will sell them by January 31st 2009!
But anyway - everyone, please, have a good day! Scott

It's interesting how everyone is concentrating on the presidental election. I also had to vote for about 10 circuit judges and my state representative, county sheriff, and about a dozen new laws (one I am sad to say will most likely pass - the gay marriage ban).

I voted yesterday as well. North Carolina started early voting 3 weeks ago. Ends this Saturday.

They are rotating polling places in my county which has worked out well.

Already, so many North Carolinians have voted that the total early voters has surpassed 1/3 of the total votes cast in the 2004 election.

The longest wait times are in downtown Winston-Salem polling stations with a 4 hour wait. Has been that way since day one.

I waited about an hour and 20 minutes yesterday.

We had the same issue here, 6 pages of ballot but also touch screen which made it easy.

Plus a BIG US senatorial race involving incumbent Elizabeth Dole. You would never know she was from NC. She had only spent a total of like 20 days in NC in the past 4 years. The rest of the time she was in Kansas with Bob.

You can sure as hell bet she is spending time in NC now! People are outraged. She is on the US Senate Banking Committee and has been for the past 6 years. Records clearly show NOT ONCE has she asked a single question in 6 years. Even with the financial crisis. But she has sure graciously accepted more than $1million from Wall Street and banks over those same six years.

Lord knows how much they have contributed to her campaign now.

She claimed NC citizenship because her mother lives here.

I truly believe we need term limits for Congress. This country was not founded to make career politicians. The "by the people" is meaningless. It is by the few. Since the inception of congress in 1789, there have been a grand total of 1,879 congress people. That is more than 200 years of American politics. And that is how many have served in congress.

Am I the only one who sees something wrong with this???
