Interesting Osama Bin Laden facts

1- Osama bin Laden was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In a 1998 interview, he gave his birth date as March 10, 1957

2- His father, Muhammed bin Laden, was killed in 1967 in an airplane crash in Saudi Arabia when his American pilot misjudged a landing.

3- According to CNN national security correspondent David Ensore, as of 2002 bin Laden had married four women and fathered roughly 25 or 26 children.

4- Capturing Osama bin Laden has been an objective of the United States government since the presidency of Bill Clinton.

5- The Taliban refused to extradite Osama Bin Laden. It wasn't until after the bombing of Afghanistan began in October 2001 that the Taliban finally did offer to turn over Osama bin Laden to a third-party country for trial, in return for the US ending the bombing and providing evidence that Osama bin Laden was involved in the 9/11 attacks. This offer was rejected by George W Bush stating that this was no longer negotiable with Bush responding that "There's no need to discuss innocence or guilt. We know he's guilty."

6- October 2009: An article in the British tabloid Daily Mail points out that the theory that Bin Laden died in 2001 "is gaining credence among political commentators, respected academics and even terror experts" and notes that the mounting evidence that supports the claim makes the theory "worthy of examination".

7- On October 18, 2010, an unnamed NATO official suggested that bin Laden is "alive and well and living comfortably" in Pakistan, protected by elements of the country's intelligence services. A senior Pakistani official denied the allegations and said they were designed to put pressure on the Pakistani government ahead of talks aimed at strengthening ties between Pakistan and the United States.

Who knows if we will ever find out if he is in fact dead or alive.

In 1979 the Russians fought Taliban, then, under the name Mujahideen Resistance.
Bin Laden was our (US) point man. US supplied him with 200 shoulder-fired missiles, of which 100 went missing. Years later they found their way to Iran. Bin Laden was getting north of $10 mil monthly to harass the Russians. Hundreds of his buddies were sent to the US to get explosives training, and some were studying civil engineering, including design and safety of the skyscrapers.

We'd know it if he was dead - his followers would instantly turn him into a martyr.

During 2001/2002 he was apparently suffering from some serious kidney issues that most hospitals in Pakistan and Afganistan wouldn't have been able to handle.
