"Hey, aren't you that guy that was challenged to a piano duel over at DNForum?"

Imagine hearing that in an offline public place.

"Yeah, that was me. I really need to work on my time management a little better..."

to get back on topic, both sides have been found guilty of warcrimes
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009...ar-crimes-gaza

interesting Israel just get straight away get on the defensive and do not recognize the U.N
i know hamas commist atrocious things, but how can Israel say theyre not answerable to anyone?
worst part of it is the UK is the most guilty in the world for selling arms to dodgy regimes, the worst. we officially make the most dollar from it too. i think the uk governements angle is well if we didnt sell them someone else would so why harm the economy.
can you imagine telling the police, 'well i sold the knife to the lad that mugged the old lady as someone else would have'

this is exactly the same but a million times worse
if the UN had teeth we could all be spanked, but they dont
    a new system is needed

Yeah I agree with most of that PRED. I truly don't know much about the UK's levels of arms sales (I always thought it was the USA, then one or two other countries, then us) but I'll take your word for it.

As for the UN's ruling, as before I do feel that both sides have committed such crimes. But I also believe that:

    1) Hamas and Hezbollah attack Israel knowing full well that its own citizens will die as a result (whereas when Israel attacks it does so to, amongst other things, protect its citizens - I know that's not the sole reason though)

    2) The situation is unfortunately FUBARed. Neither side are careful about attacking when civilians are in the area, and this is upsetting to see. I'm not sure how the situation will end (although I think if Iran truly is building a nuclear weapon, we'll see it all kick off BIG TIME within weeks of concrete evidence emerging - i.e. full blown war, IMO), but I hope (but doubt) that the peace efforts will sort something out.

    yep agreed
normally the US is the top pig in arms sales, they may have crept ahead again
we were at the top of the steaming pile last year
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008...de.saudiarabia
considering the size of our island nation its incredible we're even threatening the 'lead'

remeber how we've destroyed all our manufacturing industries, but kept this one
also how we put all our eggs in one basket in the financial sector, we were the worlds leading financial services people. look where that got us. foundations of sand

of course you'll get those twats who say what about jobs etc? i say **** em. get an honourable job. also why havent we been expanding the green energy business and laternative power industry in the UK for years? what a great area to be in. instead we kept dotting our stampsize country with nuclear power stations, then gave a majority management control to french from what i understand

how can we try to say anything to the world or even our children when we have this disgrace on our hands. blood on our hands. the UK needs a revolution

Thanks for that link, is interesting to know.

Yes I quite agree. 'Behind the scenes' (ish) it doesn't look very good at all. You make a very good point that arms is one of the few manufacturing sectors still doing well here.

Seeing as how our economy is now one of the weakest to come out of this recession, it'll be interesting to see whether there's any real change (doubtful) or just more of the same.

you're right though historically i think U.S leads way, this was more of a blip but we're always 'top' 4

what people really need to think about is when one of your major industries is this dirty, its in the resident countries best interests for global instability and war.
and like it or not, we and the U.S have had a hand in all things dirty for donkeys years.
    frightening eh?

i would argue real patriots are honest and would want to change this, the low lifes are the ones who wish to continue this path

also, what i and others said from day 1 when we broke the UN guidance, illegally invaded Iraq etc, apart from innocent soldiers on our side and hundreds of thousands of women and children dying (really think about that peops, how (god forbid) one violent death in your family, especially a child would rip your family's lives apart), that the other thing would be when we really needed to take a stand on something potentially huge, like Iran, where would our moral ground be?

i mean who will listen to us and the states etc. ? you have to have moral highground and good character.

of course bribery and pressure will be exerted in the security council but china and russia will do as they please

Wishful thinking on Dale's part. He's had one too many piano lessons over at Elton John's house. Did you ever ask him why he can only play the pedals on songs like Rocket Man?

I can't speak for the UK, but if the US Federal Government doesn't abruptly change course, it's going to quickly run out of track. A great revolution to live through (bloodless of course), would be one where individual states turn on the Federal government and strip away most of it's power. Doubtful it will happen in my lifetime, though I'm sure it's in the cards somewhere.
