The ships were 90 miles offshore in international waters, according to some reports the first commandos came onboard from helicopters firing live rounds whilst still on the abseil ropes. Also on board the ( Turkish flagged ) ships were a nobel peace prize winner, children and an aged holocaust survivor. Yet another error of judgement by the Israelis.

You give a one-sided view of this incident. Israel says that they had weapons and were attacked when they boarded. If they were truly bring just relief supplies to Gaza then they would not have been so violent when the Israelis boarded their ship.

As I was not there I am simply reporting what I have read and expressing my opinion of the wisdom of the action, however, what is not in dispute is that Israeli troops boarded a ship in international waters. The facts surrounding the incident will come out later from the many eye witnesses on board, who include many US citizens by the way.

CNN has been broadcasting video taken from the deck of the ship while the soldiers were repelling down, also showed some infra-red feeds from overhead (another helicopter? drone? satellite feed? AWAC's?) that shows attack helicopters in position, chaos on the deck of the ship, as well as several Israeli fast gunboats as part of the attack.

There were thousands of live Twitter posts and perhaps hundreds of video footage not yet seen from all the camera's and cell phones on board.

I would imagine there was suspicions of weapons on board. And yes, it does show some of the soldiers being chased and surrounded. These guys were all dressed in black and descended down ropes to a deck on a ship. In reality, how would you act and what would you assume if you were at sea and suddenly armed people boarded your ship?

The images were startling. I am still curious as to what the source was of the infrared footage taken overhead. It clearly shows the helicopters in position and commandos descending onto the deck.

If the soldiers were attacked, it was perhaps a group of people protecting themselves from what they may have perceived as terrorists or someone wanting to take over the ship.

I also have a suspicion that some soldiers may have been injured and unquestionably the search of the vessel was aborted.

This is clearly a huge mess and is not going to just simply go away.

People are dead in an unprovoked attack/invasion based on what? Suspicions?

With a eternal Western Media free pass, I'm honestly surprised the Israelis didn't just blow the aid convoy out of the water, USS Liberty style. Dead civilians, dead reporters, dead activists, dead aid workers, dead UN staff, flattened under the tread of an Israeli bulldozer... it makes no difference, the Israelis are always right, always justified, and always above the law.

Think this is bad, wait until they bomb Iran and start WWIII...

What I don't understand is why they did not wait for the ships to enter Israeli zone, why they would harm their reputation and attack in international zone is confusing. Someone was not thinking!

This incident is not going to go away anytime soon and going to give birth to more radical Muslim terrorist.

It is a sad day in our history, such incidents should be avoided. Here we go again with more bloodshed coming our way.

I guess there are hard preparations for the third Intifada.. I'm very curious though what is on the ship, when they will search them through in Ashdod. If they find weapons, they will justify the mass murder.

EU and Turkey Officials inspected all ships before departing to Gaza, so their was no need for the raid.

Israel needs to be held accountable for their actions, but we all know nothing will come of this.

I just watched that video, unreal! A whole boat full of batshit crazy lunatics, and not a gram of common sense amongst the lot of them. What does Hamas have to do with all this? This was a peaceful aid for people of gaza. It's wrong to kill individuals and then make false statements that the people of the ship were associated with terrorist. That is shameful and disgraceful.

Under International Law, any ship attacked under International Waters have the right to defend themselves. Israel violated International Law and murdered unarmed people. If they had any experience with dealing with people, they would know to use smoke bombs, and tear gas or Taser Guns
