Saw the interview. Learned 15,000 Iraqi civilian fatalities were unpublicized by the Pentagon (not including friendly fatalities which could be in the low thousands). Some may argue that the disclosure of such information may do damage for pro US causes in Iraq and the Mideast. Perhaps. But what about accountability? What about the families of US soldiers and everyday Iraqis? Don't they deserve the truth?
Time didn't have the guts to name Assange Man of the Year. And yet Putin won a few years ago.
What about causing a global political instability that leads to several local fights and a massive war? Wait, it's already happening: Tunisia, Egypt - which one is next?
Is the risk of localized political instability worth the dissemination of "classified" material? A question best left to Wikileak's anonymous sources.
There is just as much a possibility that lives could be saved as there is of political instability or regional conflict.
There is no localization anymore, welcome to the Internet era. It used to take days and weeks for political waves to exit a country in turmoil but now it takes minutes.
As much as I don't like human rights violations performed by entire governments, I don't buy Assange's position that his organization's revelations and leaks are all done with altruism in mind.
Thinking about the T-shirt:
Free Julian
in-Dyke Hillary
Well Assange built a platform and whistle-blowers provided. During the interview he admitted to deriving a certain sense of pleasure from being in a position to make banks, organizations and governments squirm, as it keeps them in check. Beyond this I don't understand what he stands to gain by placing his life in the cross-hairs.
Maybe he's the "antichrist" who will (as the history channel always says) bring about the "end of the world" LOL

Neither Mahmoud Ahmadinejad nor Barak Obama nor anybody in-between is ready to accept the new reality: no more secrecy and no mo bs
Not sure what this guy did besides create an outlet for others who jepodized their life to publicize stolen information. It's not like he sneaks into gov offices at night. Fcat is he is now rich and famous at the cost of others.
