    Wow!
If there's one thing this thread makes clear, it's:

Ignorance sure isn't bliss, just ignorance. ...and ignorance drives fear, leaving some people emotionally unstable to argue childhood superstitions.

"Unicorns exists because no one can prove that they don't exist, even thou no one has ever seen one or had an iota of evidence to such ascertions that unicorns exist other than the discussion surrounding the absense of any evidence that they exist, despite claims that they do exist, which has never even been proven by those making such claims. Therefore, unicorns exists - just not to humans :S

Apparently, the insidious effects of entanglement between religion and civil government were pretty well recognized.

Concerning the asserted "Christian" values of the founders, let's review:

    1. Owning slaves - check.

    2. Counting negroes as 3/5 of a human for the purpose of apportionment - check.

    3. Voting and governing for men only - check.

Clearly, they were not particularly familiar with Galations 3:28. Christians my ***.

It took long enough for you to respond. What you have stated is the typical response from the left in this country. You point out only the negatives concerning the founding fathers and have nothing to say about the positive impact they had. They create the greatest democracy the world has ever seen. Slavery was a terrible stain on are country as was not allowing minorities to vote but they have been rectified.

If you understood Christianity, you would know that there is no such thing as a "good person".

If you understood the Constitution, you would understand what it means to be a nation of laws, and not men.

Where the preamble declares, that coercion is a departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion, an amendment was proposed by inserting "Jesus Christ," so that it would read "A departure from the plan of Jesus Christ, the holy author of our religion;" the insertion was rejected by the great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mohammedan, the Hindoo and Infidel of every denomination.

-Thomas Jefferson, Autobiography, in reference to the Virginia Act for Religious Freedom

Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between church and State.

The latest thinking is that God is mostly female with a PMS syndrome and a raging lunatic. Just open any page in the Bible & you'll find for yourself that God's response to any human action is totally out of proportion.
    Hezbollah anybody?

Thomas Jefferson's Danbury letter has nothing to do with the U.S. Constitution. Please show where the phrase " a wall of separation between church and state" is found in it? That letter was written eleven years after the ratification of the First Amendment. He used the term "a wall of separation between church and state" to assure the Baptists that the federal government wouldn't establish a federally recognized "state" religion.
