Les Paul (born Lester William Polsfuss on June 9, 1915) is an American jazz guitarist and inventor. He is a pioneer in the development of the solid-body electric guitar which "made the sound of rock and roll possible." His many recording innovations include overdubbing, delay effects such as "sound on sound" and tape delay, phasing effects, and multitrack recording.
If you ever get a chance to see the HBO special with him and many notable rockers playing with him, you owe it to yourself to this treat.

An absolute legend!

I've been listening to a few songs he and Mary Ford did.
Then listened to some he later did in life with many notable musicians.
He was so smooth!!! I don't hear those often annoying chords change noise of fingers on strings. He was so good.
A good friend of mine has a vintage mid-80's model Les Paul. I should call him up (hoping he has not heard the news) and see if he wants to sell it.
