The middle class always bares the brunt of any tax increase. Its always been that way. Now with the IRS hiring 800 new agents to supposedly go after money hidden overseas. I have my doubts that will happen more likely they'll target easy fish like say the........middle class.

Might as well get the lube ready and bend over because big government is coming for you.

It always amazes me that some people would support and defend actions by the greedy few who would cheat the hard working and honest taxpayers.

Let it be known to all that I, for one, fully support all efforts to detect and pursue U.S tax evaders and go after their illegal offshore tax shelter operations. I fully support our governments efforts to close all "loop holes" in our tax system that allows the rich and greedy to benefit from paying less taxes while the honest taxpayers pay more to make up the difference. Just because its always been this way does not mean it must continue this way.

I believe in a fair tax system where everybody pays their fair share including the rich, powerful, and greedy. This group will never get my support.

Your hero Al "Greedy" Gore did just that, when he found a loophole and AVOIDED paying taxes on his 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, A $1.8 million cash award that was to be taxable income. Rather than pay taxes to help the working class and honest taxpayers as you call them, Al chose to donate the full 100% to an Alliance that will benefit (you guessed it) HIM.

That's nice, perhaps you should write a letter to your friend Ted Kennedy... He's an expert at finding and using loopholes for his own selfish greed.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Taxes suck, and they are SUPPOSED to be optional...at least that's what the constitution said...so I heard.
I'm buying credit, banking, loan, insurance related generics in .com, .net, .org with high search volumes/traffic. Will consider typos too! - PLEASE PM with name, info, & asking price!

Gore won the $1.5 million Nobel Peace Prize jointly with the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

He donated his $750,000 to Palo Alto-based Alliance for Climate Protection where it was used to launch a campaign to convince Americans to act against man-made co2 global warming.

You can believe what you want but I choose to believe his donation was used to benefit us all...not just himself.

I've never defended Ted Kennedy. I agree he probably is an expert in finding and using loopholes for personal benefit. He and others like him should be held accountable for all illegal actions.

If you're middle class its pretty pointless to hide money offshore, its not exactly free to set it up.

Yeah so? If I had lots of money I would store it offshore to avoid taxes to.

Nothing wrong with that but if you wanted to enjoy a little prideful integrity and honesty you should also store yourself offshore with it.

To enjoy the benefits paid by other taxpayers while you stash your money someplace offshore to avoid paying your rightful share of taxes is wrong.....and it doesn't matter whether or not you agree with the way the tax money is used....its still wrong and dishonest.

I don't particularly like to pay more than my fair share so that the dishonest greedy can keep more of their dollars for themselves.

The politicians who use loopholes to avoid paying their fair share of taxes and keep being re-elected, what's wrong with ordinary citizens doing the same? If it's legal, I say GO FOR IT.

    You want to talk about morality? Go preach to the crooks who write the tax code, the ones who create the loopholes, the ones who vote themselves perks and pay raises at the expense of the hard working tax payer, the ones who abuse their power for personal profit, Speaking of which;

William Jefferson, his trial finally got under way today.

Its the ILLEGAL loopholes I'm talking about such as claiming residence in another country when its not true.

I agree morality in this country has hit rock bottom. Thats why honest taxpayers should speak out against it every chance they get....not advocate doing the same things for personal benefit just because others seem to get by with it.

Taxes... let's see, welfare benefits and social services that are currently facilitating a bloodless conquest of the western United States. Two absolutely senseless wars that are maiming and killing our youngest generation of adults. Bailouts for corrupt financial entities. Salaries for career politicians whose sole purpose seems to be scratching their asses, and playing partisan hacky sack. What other utopian ideas am I funding these days?

Look to California if you really want to know just how concerned the Federal government is with the well being of our nation. They've either reached the absolute pinnacle of incompetence, or they don't even see the country even out of the corner of their eyes.

Of course he supports the troops. Why would you make such a dumb statement like that? He pays taxes like the rest of us. What most want is a sensible tax policy. Does President Obama support that. Hell no!!! He thinks he'll soak the rich even more then this country already does. Who will ultimately pay for the trillions Obama is wasting.....the middle class that includes me and a lot of others on this forum.
