I like how you conveniently leave out the fact that Reagan was President of the Screen Actors guild at the time.

As for Clinton, It's like I said before, He wasn't fighting two wars like Bush has, it's taken BILLIONS to finance these Wars, Wars that Clinton should of protected us against as President in the first place... lf Clinto had done his job and protected the National and Domestic Security of the United States like he was supposed to, the budget surplus would likely be a budget deficit.

Clintons "do nothing" approach to this nations security cost us MORE money than what we saved and cost us thousands of lives in the process.

The most costly of the two wars (Iraq and Afghanistan) is clearly Iraq and therefore should not have been engaged in the first place. If McCain/Palin want to 'carry on with the wars in Iraq and Iran' (Palin's words) thensurely this will only exaserbate the financial burden upon the US even more.

You're simply misinformed. Reagan in 1947 when he testified to the McCarthy committee was not a president of the screen actors guild; he was an actor with little typecast roles. But he was liked for what he seemed to be, was sociable and thus able to take notes on other actors of his time. He was used for years after that to deliver actors and directors that - according to the McCarthy doctrine - possessed anti-American features in their activities. In other words, in the world of art of Cinema, having Soviet friends to discuss direction or the art itself was a crime. You were tagged as a communist and were excommunicated from the Hollywood scene and you'd be glad to find a job at all.

Again, claiming that Clinton delivered a surplus because he fought no wars, is childish. Dubya's invasion of Iraq was simply a tantrum, something he owed to his daddy, Big George. There was never evidence Iraq was linked to the 9-11 attacks. In all fact, Dubya and his dad protected the Bin Laden family, flying them overseas the day after the attack, while at the same time maintaining the strong relationship with the Saudis - the country of 80% of the hijackers. So now, 5 years into a useless war that has claimed the lives of 4,500 US soldiers and those of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians, you say that this is the reason America is so financially screwed?

I was expecting better arguments from you.

Incidentally, I do not condone US interventions overseas that include the form of war-like force, such as the bombing of Belgrade under Bill Clinton in 1999.

Not terrorism.... I believe we went to war for a number of reasons,

The belief that Iraq possessed WMD's
Not allowing further nuclear inspections
Obstructing inspections
Ignoring 16 United Nations Security Council resolutions
Using Chemical weapons to slaughter thousands of his own people.

Raider, the US invaded Iraq on the sole basis of its supposed connection to the 9-11 bombings, alleged links to Al Qaida and supposed WMD in its hidden hangars. Search for "16 words" in Google to review the excuse used in Congress to authorize the launching of the campaign. As far as the real reasons are concerned: Dubya's owning to his dad to finish the job George Bush senior didn't finish: take down Saddam. There were no WMD, the 9-11 hijackers were Saudi and Al Qaida set up shop in Iraq AFTER the US forces moved in.

Raider, the use of chemical weapons both in the Iraq-Iran war and against his own civilian population is abhorant (and let me assure you I know more than you on this very subject - just take my word on that). However that does not form any part of the reasoning for invading Iraq.

The evidence produced by the White House in support of Iraq's possession of WMD has since been proven to have been knowingly altered by the White House prior to its release and therefore this is not evidence upon which Bush and his Republican cronies in the White House can use as a defence.

As for Iraq's non-compliance with the UN resolutions, the refusal to allow further nuclear inspections, and obstructing nuclear inspectors none of these acts allows for war under International Law. That is why Bush and his Republican cronies cooked up the WMD dosier, that is why they lied to the US Congress, that is why they lied to the US public, that is why they lied to their allies (now mostly-estranged allies), and why they lied to the UN. This is no defence to cause the human tragedy that is the Iraq war and the economic hardships for all participants since.

Oh and by the way who is the Presidential candidate who wants to carry on the war? Oh yes McCain, he would rather more US servicemen die and become maimed than admit that he and Bush were wrong.
