These are people (Palin, Bachmann, Perry) who believe mentioning God or Jesus makes them more honest and holier than their opponents and believe those principles (god, country, family) is the road to the White House. And the sheeples get right in line with them and walk towards the light.

There was strong condemnation of those words here in the US, many even calling it Blasphemy. Most just viewed it as twisted minds proclaiming anything bad that happens to the US was the will of God, further proclaiming these acts were proof that God (Allah) is on their side in the war against the devil or evil U.S..
The difference that people will see in Michelle Bachmann's making those same comments about Irene is, many in the US will proclaim, She's a good Christian woman.

Sorry Raider, but that exhibition of ignorance goes both ways. I meet MANY more clueless conservatives than liberals, and I straddle both worlds very effectively.
I think it is a stretch to call the people who elected Obama "clueless" just because they elected Obama. After all, they didn't just vote for Obama, they voted against Palin being one heartbeat away from the most powerful position on earth. Or is that racism I hear oh so faintly bellowing in the background? It can be tough to tell the racists from the conservatives in political discourse these days.

This country has serious, serious issues to face, and you still dwell on that? Is it any wonder Obama can't extract even the tiniest amount of human decency and seriousness out of the conservative - yeah I'll say it - terrorists holding his agenda hostage in the hopes that by denying him any victories they can somehow defeat him next year?
Obama has his shortcomings, but seriousness and intelligence are not among them. Since conservative "values" have evolved (pun intended) to demean the importance of science and intellectual heft, one can only hope the not-so-stupid majority of Americans will think rationally at the voting booth next fall.
I can go to number of places and listen to people I don't agree with. It doesn't mean they are my thoughts or by proxy I am saying them. Bachmann and the like actually say this. If they actually believe it might be another thing.
