    More Americans pro-life than pro-choice

For the first time ever more Americans are pro-life than pro-choice. This is accordingly to a new gallup poll. The future is looking a little brighter for America now.

So if your girl was raped and impregnated by the local slack-jawed mouth breather, you'd rather her keep it?

You're giving a specific instance where I would probably allow it. Most cases are not this way in fact most of them are just people who don't want to take responsibility for their actions.

I would think for someone who has been to Iraq and seen more death there than I will see in a lifetime would understand how precious life is. Especially for those that can't defend themselves(the unborn).

    Interesting......

    You must of read the Notre Dame story where this study was cited;

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_obama_notre_dame

My prediction is this country will grow more conservative and more pro-life the longer Obama is in office.

I am pro life in most cases. I do not believe in abortion for any reason other than:

the baby has no chance for survival
its a child having a child due to rape

For those who CHOSE to have sex whether they are 16 or 36 they should have to take responsibility for their actions. If they do not want the baby they can put it up for adoption once its born but to use ABORTION has a way not to have kids. Screw that!

For those who are adults and have been raped its a horrible thing that no one should ever have to go through and if pregnancy is the result of it that would make it even harder, but is it fair to an unborn baby how it was conceived?

Why end its life for something that it did not do? Again adoption is always a choice.

I never really judge anyone who has decided to do this but I am strongly against it.

    ok ok, here's the kicker...

When does life officially begin for a child?

The second the sperm and egg conjoin?

The moment it is released from the womb?

    Discuss.

Devil Dog: thats a million dollar question and you will get tons of different responses.

I personally believe that life begins when the child is conceived and you can hear a heart beat. Many will argue that only when the baby is viable outside the womb while others will say only when its born.

It begins in the womb. At least that is what I believe. Hell I saw a pic of sisters baby, Wyatt three months into her pregnancy and it showed his whole form including a little pee pee. He moved around and was a real kicker. Had to be a real life right?

If we want to get real technical couldn't you say that male sperm and female eggs are living organisms and when a male ejaculates he's killing off millions of potential lives?

Ok that's reaching, but perhaps you get my point?

I think the large majority of Americans feel the same way, including myself... However I would extend Abortion to the survival of the Mother and the health of the baby, If my baby was diagnosed with down's syndrome for example, I don't want Government telling me I have to have it.. I want that choice.

What's most upsetting to me are late term abortions, It's hard to believe this is actually legal in the USA... It's no wonder why the Pro-Life movement has been gaining momentum.

Neurological development of a fetus is such that it is literally impossible for it to perceive anything until ~30 weeks. Parts of the brain that translate sensory input don't develop till 28, and don't hook up till 31, on average.
Until that point, it's basically working of reflex actions only... The same kind of "life" someone has when they are clinically brain dead with no chance of recovery, and no ability to survive without mechanical aid.

Which puts me at totally pro-choice till week 30, and then after that, based on circumstance.

I think more people would be pro-choice if they had even the slightest clue of prenatal development.

Where did you get this from?.... Are you suggesting a fetus feels nothing up until 30 weeks?

Like many Gallup polls, this study is flawed. There are never just two options unless one is asking a "Yes and No" question.

For example, I am a pro-lifer who believes women should have a choice.

A woman always has a choice. Choice to say "No". A man likewise always has a choice to say "No".

But when the argument gets overwhelming, they (the pro abortionists) cite 'rape', 'incest' and what have you, to defend their body and freedom.

Life does not care about morality. Life just wants to 'live'. Life begins at conception. Ask Obama about his chances of becoming President had his mother chosen to abort him for whatever reason.

There are no easy answers to this issue. But, we all have to agree, that the majority of them use abortion as a means to live the kind of life meant for animals.

Sleep around. And worry about consequences, later!

I think the vast majority of abortions are requested because the pregnancy is regarded as an inconvenience or a burden. I find it hard to believe that anyone with common sense would conclude that this is just cause to abort a pregnancy. I'm not convinced any cause is reasonable for that matter. That conclusion and the resulting guilt that could be realized if one is involved in such a barbaric act, would seemingly be diverted from society by attempting to put the burden (or potential guilt) upon the woman by assigning her the sole responsibility of making that decision. Thus, you won't hear many people, especially politicians, proclaim that they are pro-abortion. Rather they will proclaim they are pro-choice.

Abortion is and has been considered immoral in many civilizations for thousands of years, against the principals of many religions, and is contrary to sound moral judgement as required in the physician's Hippocratic Oath.

Most importantly, if we don't value and protect the unborn, even from their own mothers, the lives of people that make it out of the womb may some day also be deemed unnecessary or inconvenient.

being pro life isn't just about being against abortion. it has to go further than that. many who are pro life are not pro social programs who help helpless children stuck in hateful abusive households. if life is precious to you, your care for that life should not end after the baby is born but continue on until adulthood.

So what you're saying is I need to support government social programs to be truly pro-life? The government makes everything worse when it gets involved. There are plenty of private organizations out there that provide what you're asking without tax dollars.

    imo...

no man or no man's law, which has been made law by a majority of men, should legislate what a woman's choices are in life.

if men got pregnant, there would be no argument.

no woman should be forced to carry to term, a child that was conceived from rape.

women should maintain the right to forget such violations, by having the right to terminate that pregnancy.

men are out of line when trying to dictate a woman's future

    imo...
