Register Today on DNForum IT'S FREE!I have brought this up repeatedly in the past.
Perhaps some see it as a legal issue and liability.
Personally, I do not.
When a domain changes registrants, so too does the WHOIS.
However, when the person breaks a contract with a sale, then tough dookie, to put it mildly.
The winning bidder of a recently closed sedo auction has:
"Despite repeated emails and contact attempts the buyer has failed to make payment for this domain."
The bidder was the 6th and final bidder in this auction.
That deadbeat bidder is:
Buyer
Sergey Kutukov
Vodoproviodnaya 11
352360 stanica Tbilisskaya
Russia
Sergey, if you are a member here, good luck on getting out of this one.
And better luck at convincing other members to trust you.

(About my new avatar: Plans had been to leave for Ethiopia mid-August to assist with setting up a hospital. I was to accompany a good friend who is to finish med school there and meet up with the doctor in Addis Ababa who is spearheading this effort.
I have been grounded from flying due to my own medical issues, including loss of balance and severe Neuropathy.
We have sent a least one (possibly two?) ship containers full of donated supplies. Our hope is that they arrive safely and not subject to Somali pirates.
I will do what I can to support, contribute, and promote that mission. The image is of a Ethiopian Muzri tribal woman. I hope my friends can start sending back images of their own.
Then again, this is not a vacation or safari trip.

Not impressed Sergey.
I dealt with non-payment after non-payment on sedo last year.
Was hoping that 2008 would be different and up until this point it was.

Unfortunately, it IS a legal issue for the forum owners, whether you see care to see it as one or not.
Under US laws, they can potentially be seen as participating in libel by not removing this post.
Now, whilst this is cross jurisdictional, the reason why these threads don't exist as a matter of course is because generally, forum owners have better things to do than go to court defending themselves over something they didn't even say.
Try to be considerate of the people who are actually running the service that allows you to actually say this.
Then if those that run the forum see this as being a libel issue for them then they are free to remove it.
sedo releases this information to the seller when the transaction was not successfully concluded. The buyer has broken the contract that they agreed to.
Other wise, every newspaper in the country could get sued, every registrar who holds a controversial name (like RyanAirSucks.com) and every web host who hosts a controversial site.
I do not see this a being a liability issue for them at all.
If that were the case, then not a single member on this forum has the right to b*tch about or question a registrar, a host, a parking company, or a political candidate's intent or action. Otherwise, the forum would be liable for any number of violations pertaining all those matters as well as being a vehicle responsible for transmitting and facilitating the dissemination of the message.
And for those that question where this is posted, the reason it is in the section it is in is due to the subforum, that being politics/controversial.
Otherwise, there should be two distinct and separate titles.
And as for thread after thread of mine getting reported (not that you did this HarveyJ) for one trumped up thing or another, I too can certainly report every thread that I do not like or disagree with.
A contract was broken, This should be in Legal.
Please vote Republican in 2012, America can not sustain another 4 years
of Liberal policies that are fiscally and socially destroying the country..
That's what I think as well!A contract was broken, This should be in Legal.

If sedo wishes to portray themselves as a serious organization then I think that they need to take action here. Accounts need to be suspended or terminated at the very least when this sort of thing happens.
I also think that sedo should implement a deposit on bids over a certain amount. If a bidder fails to pay then the deposit should be split between Sedo and the domain owner...
I have made this proposal to Sedo countless times over the years. 2007 was horrendous for me as I think I had 9 or 11 auctions go unpaid for.
One two separate auctions, it was the same deadbeat bidder.
Their buyer verification or certification process is a joke. Seems they are only verifying that it is a living, breathing being and not a bot.
A credit card on file (similar to Snap) I believe would go a long way to discouraging bogus bids. At the conclusion of that auction, allow the buyer to pay with an alternate method of their choosing. If there is no response, then the CC on file is billed.
Anything bogus regarding the CC is then legal cause for Sedo, not the seller.
very frustrating![]()
Newspapers get sued for libel constantly!
My local broadsheet's legal expenditure was nearly equal to that of their payroll expenditure last fiscal year!![]()
