I received an email today from one of my professional organizations, Society of Critical Care Medicine, SCCM.
They have a huge need for Logistics and Communcations people who speak French.
If you have been watching anything on TV lately, you know of the bottleneck at the Airport in getting supplies delivered.
I am not sure of where the needs are in particular or how remote some of these places may be. Nor do I know how long they would need these services.
Because of all the shipping and materials coming in and much being diverted to the Dominican Republic and brought in over land, I do not know where the largest needs are.
But if you have experience in shipping, getting jobs done, and coordinating lorries, trucks and so on and speak French, then consider volunteering.
If you meet these basic qualifications, have proven success and years of experience, have a resume on hand, and have time to give to make a truly impacted difference in the lives of hundreds of thousands,

My wife is from France, and we live in South Florida. She has been looking for some way to use her language skills (French / English / Spanish) to help with this, but we have 3 kids at home still, and both have full time jobs. If they (or any good non-profit) could use someone in Miami / Ft Lauderdale on weekends for Haiti help, let me know who to connect her with.

Yeah, texting can take up to months actually to get the money to the agencies.
What is needed most at this point is people actually able to get the flow of relief supplies flowing - logistics and communications.
There is a large enough pool of medical people to draw from but a big need for other specialties and people who can translate.

Who here knows the concept of "Doctors Without Borders"?
Who else here is a member of Special Operations Response Team (SORT)?

Yeah. Lets help the homeless. God forbid. Don't get close to them. They stink like shit. So just give money to the united way and designate the organization you want to help.
Y'all good samaritans shut the hell up and get your asses down to the soup kitchen and serve some dinners for the homeless and then come tell me about helping the homeless, the destitute, the less fortunate, the psychopaths.
In the meantime, Rock, start a thread about what members can do for the homeless in your community and other communities.
If you will notice, this is a call for those that have special skills and speak french and can benefit hundreds of thousands.

I have posted what the needs are that I do not possess.
Knowing we have a great many french speaking canadians, I thought I would pass this along.
If someone wants to start a thread of helping fellow man on the street, then have at it.
If someone does not feel like any money or resources should be wasted on Haiti, then that can be another thread.
