Obama bows down to Saudi King

I see it as a sign of Respect from one Leader to another as other members also voiced. For years I have watched issues like this get more focus than the real issues that Nations are facing. I think it's a shame.

It's the same thing. Both are a form of respect in that country. I think you have the American form of "bowing" in your head. It's not like he hooked up with the man on Match.com.

In the US, the Saudi King would bow and extend his hand to Obama.

This is nothing more than showing respect to your host and abiding by the custom of the country you are in.

This is only an issue because someone wants to make it an issue.

Detente and protocol apparently have no place in the vocabulary of many on and off this forum.

In Japan, Obama may take off his shoes and sit on the floor and drink warm tea with his host.

What does that mean? Would some take that as an insult considering what Japan did at Pearl Harbor?

This is how I see it.
I see it as Queen Elizabeth is already cool with United States. United States don't need great things from Britain.
I see that Obama is real nice and bowing to Saudia Arabia President or Prince I forgot obviously because OIL is the thing.

OIL is important. Saudia Arabia is also very rich. And also Osama Bin Laden was hiding in Saudia Arbia I believe and now he isn't? Why the president actually kicked him out. Why? I believe friendship with United States and US convinced them to do it.


I believe US wants something badly from Saudia Arbia and easiest way is to be friends with them to achieve the goal.

That is why some people do not work in government positions. They do not know what is expected and what is protocol.

Bowing to the Queen? She does not expect that as a matter of protocol. That is old school Royalty and when all the peasants were her subjects.
