What do I think? I think he was showing respect.

In a previous job, I used to have interactions with Japanese business executives, and I discovered there's a whole system of who bows to whom, how deeply, etc. While I probably didn't follow the system correctly, I think that by bowing I showed respect to the executive and his company. Same thing applies to Obama showing respect to the king and his country.

(I also think that if someone like Bush had bowed to him, you wouldn't be having this reaction.)

Just showing respect...Obama is humble in that respect & maybe we are just not used to seeing that in our US leaders. It does make sense to mend all the broken ties we have out there and I think so far he is doing a damn good job considering all things. I also think that maybe the government expects him to be the "fall guy" for the economic mess we are currently in - but if Obama has his way we will pull through it and rebuild it all. I sincerely hope he makes the right choices for us all, and we did all elect him so I say let the chips fall as they may because we are all counting on him at this point and that is one hell of a responsibility...I really don't know how some of these people do it, it's amazing to me. (his ability to deal with stress/pressure) The dude has balls of cast iron.

Personally, i'm going to be honest here. I really like obama, he's your best chance in a long time. This is a freeze shot, so dont know if hes sneezing or something lol, will need to watch a vid, but as it stands its extremely distasteful.
If he did what the picture portrays then its very immature.
Particularly the human rights probs in saudi and the royal family there dont serve any respect.
The other angle is when bush has been in the queens company in the UK and abroad he acted like an immature schoolboy and was rude, the other extreme.
I dont say this as I'm British as i have no love for any royal family set up, regardless of tourist revenues or history. Merit should get you where you are.

Its insane in 2009 any country has a royal family imho. At least they should have no political influence or bearing. At most a sideshow.

But having said all that, when people are put on the spot, they can overreact. Like when Prince Charles shook Mugabes hand. What was he thinking! But when you look at the history, he was educated in UK, he was knighted years ago, he will know him and in an instant its hard to refuse an outstretched hand. They are human. Having said all that Obama would have had hours/days to think about hwat he was going to do, so why did he? again i would like more footage of this.

To put it in perspective though, he hasn't raped his country of trillions whilst making sure his family are billionaires, and he's not a war criminal, so not a bad day

Nobody has been more subservient and in the pocket of the Saudi royals than your beloved Bush family. They sat on the board of the same company with those connected directly to the royal family AND THE BIN LADENS, and in fact were face to face on 9/11! Heck they even allowed those radicals as you put it to immediately flee the US without even as much as a question being asked - you remember that right? When every other person was locked down and not allowed to fly the Saudis were packed up and allowed to leave.

Conservative attention span - 15 minutes.

Here we have Obama being a Statesman - dear God! The world is coming to an end!

I agree 100% with that Roy, but the only thing I will say is here's a chance to break from from subserviency.
Like it or not the President of the US, is the most important and powerful man in the world. I wouldn't bat an eyelid if he he only did a minor courtsey for the queen of england
