I did it out of a coping mechanism in Southeast Asia. Thousands of young GI's somewhere they didn't want to be, doing something they did not want to do, and scared shitless. Very doubtful that you would find anyone from the 60's and early 70's generation that did not.

All that changed when I met the love of my life in college. She was not going to put up with my partying ways. It was that or her. I chose her.

Anybody else watch the McCain Palin interview last night on NBC News?

It was prime-time, lead story, about 5 minutes. It was a BIG opportunity for them.

How did those idiots spend those 5 minutes? They babbled on and on about how Biden said some world power is likely to 'test' Obama if he is elected, to see how he reacts. Even when the interviewer tried to change the subject, they came back to this totally irrelevant talking point REPEATEDLY. They said nothing about their plans or why people should vote from them, just over and over how "ironic" that Biden would make such a statement.

Oh, wait, there was a momentary break in the talking point, while Palin CONGRATULATED McCain for "all of the republican support" he has gotten, and McCain said how "proud" he was of Palin (for being Mayor of Wasilla, population 7,000 and home to over 30 meth labs!).

Total and complete MORONS.
