A quick search didn't turn up the data I wanted to find, but ...

I imagine that almost every president's approval numbers have dropped substantially during their first year in office. After all, the fact that they were elected showed that they had fairly high approval at that point. But no matter what policies or beliefs they held, the goals announced during their campaigns couldn't be quickly achieved once they reached office ... so approval dropped.

(I.e., if you had run this same poll after 6-9 months of any recent presidency, results probably would have been similar, except that 9/11 gave GW Bush a bump. I will look again for data to back up this impression.)

I like you and you're an intelligent person but please tell me why he gets an "A"?

So far we have 21 votes for 62 points and a total score of......

2.95 average (D+)

Because it's only been a few months and there's a hell of a mess to clean up. There simply hasn't been enough time to judge.

And there simply hasn't been enough time to say if these things will work or not work? Bash him 3 years from now. Hell, we gave Bush 8 years. Obama can't even have 8 months??

I'm sorry but the math used by Bush/Cheney in the 2000 Florida election results won't work here.

Here are the results so far of 21 votes in this poll.....

A....5 votes for 24%
B....3 votes for 14%
C....7 votes for 33%
D....1 votes for 5%
E....2 votes for 10%
F....3 votes for 14%

16 of 21 voters or 76% give Obama a passing grade of D or better with only one of those voting for less than a C.

Notes from a math teacher's perspective:

This is already biased, as you give 6 choices, of which 2 are good and 3 are bad.

Um, 2.95 on that scale is certainly a C- (or rounded to a C) rather than a D+. However, let's use the standard grading scale (at least the way it's done in all U.S. classrooms I know of):

A - 4 points
B - 3 points
C - 2 points
D - 1 point
F - 0 points

Even if the two "E" votes get converted to "F", the scores of the 21 votes so far add up to 44. That's an average of 2.1, which is a C.

I'm keeping an accurate tally guys, BD77 is correct.... So far he has a D+, that's taking into count the 4- A votes that members really don't believe in.

The only vote that has not been counted is from wmloz, which I already confirmed yesterday was pure sarcasm.

We still have 3 weeks and it's way to early.

As I already repeated at least 3 other times, This is a poll of last 9 months, When you vote, your judging Obama's performance of the last nine months. If you think it's an unfair poll because Obama hasn't had enough time, Your free to retract your vote.

I see you ignored my comments about the built-in bias and mis-scoring of this poll?

Even by your own illogical number system, he'd have a C- or C. (If D is 2 and C is 3, a score in the high 2's would never be a D+.)

I know I'm wasting my breath here, as you'll probably insult me and then announce you're LYAO ... but you must admit that a poll with 2 good choices and 3 bad ones is not, um - what's the phrase? - "fair and balanced".

I am enjoying all the changes to the poll's scoring system as the ratings come in.

This is so laughable and shows precisely how those conducting the poll skew the numbers and interpretation of those numbers to reflect how they want it.

Please tell me the results will be published some where for the entire world to see.

I guess it depends how you look at it, I see 3 good choices out there, Excellent, Good and Fair.... Besides, only 1 person chose "D" anyway.

Perhaps on the next poll we can both get together and come up with a point system that meets your approval, until then it would be unfair to all those who already voted.

One change took place and it was after only 2 votes, So stop making false claims in a pathetic attempt to discredit the poll.
