More importantly than that, I NOT VOTE for every person who's sign ends up on my property. I own 6.5 acres that front on two busy roads and one major intersection. I guess people have the sense that any vacant land or intersection is free game and they put up signs. They are totally clueless on the infringement of my rights as a land and property owner.
The last election I caught someone campaigning for Sheriff, yes...the actual candidate...pounding in a sign on my property. When I told him to take it down, he said, "Oh, I didn't think anyone owned this land." Bullshit. I told him that every piece of land is "owned" by someone or some entity even if it is owned by the state. Just because he did not see a house right there in that spot does not mean it's un-owned land, free to do with what anyone may choose.
He went on to tell me that the state has xx feet of right away. I told him I was aware of that fact and that is why I allow the state to mow there. But, if he put a sign on my property not of my choosing, it would look like I was endorsing that person and I am not.
I also mentioned that if he wanted to pull the "state right-of-way" BS on me, then I would gather up every sign I find on my property and come to his house and put them in his yard claiming the same statute. He stopped, took up the sign, then went back down to the intersection and took up that sign as well.
