I know people who pay almost $300 a month to their HOA... It's rediculous.
And on top of it, they tell you what you can and cannot do... No thanks.

Register Today on DNForum IT'S FREE!I read an article yesterday on how one of the state senators (not my district) is trying to have additions to the laws in regards to home owner's associations (HOAs) and deliquent accounts.
I sent the senator an email (as well as the two who cover my area) with suggestions (i.e. making banks pay for maintenance fees on foreclosed units - or at least a part of them).
We'll see how far it goes, if I even ever get a response.![]()

Please vote Republican in 2012, America can not sustain another 4 years
of Liberal policies that are fiscally and socially destroying the country..
You have no idea the $h!t we went though under the previous administration and with only 29 units our fees are over $250 now (to compensate for foreclosed units). We used a newly enacted law last year - any board member over 90 days deliquent with their fees cannot serve on the board. They were kicked out, we changed EVERYTHING (managhement company, lawyers, CPA etc..) and just that saved the community several hundred a month in fees alone (not including what else was *ahem* taken).
Surprisingly, I did hear back form two of the assisstants (one didn't say who he was for - but it also looked like a templated response). The other response from my senator's assisstant wants me to call him to discuss it.
Edit: I just called the office and the ast is travelling back form Tallahasee (the capital). He'll be back on Monday.
This is the first time I've ever had a non-canned / templated response to an email (and if it is templated, it's a good one).
