No one was calling Obama a socialist until his 'speading the wealth' soundbite. His tax plans would be no more spreading the wealth than this redistribution program that Reagan had put in place. If you want to say he is a "socialist" for other things, thats fine but this is what he was being called a socialist initially by the McCain camp.

The whole socialist thing is just a buzzword that only works on idiots anyways. This whole election is nothing but buzzwords, catch phrases. The dumbing down of America continues and people fall for it, time and time again.

When you lump all of what Obama wants to do, He's a Socialist..... No doubt about it.... It's not a word that Democrats like to hear, but they'll be hearing it a lot more if Obama is elected.

Relax. People were just trying to point out that even great Republican presidents were in favor of giving breaks the lower income citizens. Reagan isn't perfect though.

I dont know of one President who didn't give breaks to lower income citizens.

Hey H2FC I'm doing pretty good getting off oil, last winter was to much for me to bear buying heating oil. So I got my bu$$ in high gear this year, to fix the problem and I got most of it done now. I put new pipes in and the heaters my self, I love the heaters and I'm using them already.

I just need to get the hot water heater, and then I can shut down the oil heater for good. I found a natural gas kit for my auto for $1000, but would need away to compress the natural gas into a tank. That cost 3 to 4k so hopefully I can find some thing cheaper, they really need to get this stuff out in the market at better prices.

I could use natural gas for most all my driving, and only change to gas on them rare long trips. But right now I'm only using less then 20 gallons of gas per month, and at most I can only use 60k BTU's of natural gas to heat my house. That part I got done already, now it's just winterizing some parts of the house better.

Great to hear you're making some progress getting off the oil. I'm hoping we'll see more advancements with the use of solar panels....making them affordable for everyone. I believe Obama will be pushing this when he gets in office. Many people use them now just for their hot water.

Have you looked into the use of hydrogen for your car? There seems to be a lot on interest in this lately. Do a search of DIY hydrogen for more info. There's a lot of talk about water for fuel but what they really mean is separating the h2 from the water and using it for fuel. There's a kit that allows the h2 to mix with the gas to allow for better mileage and solar panels can be used to separate the h2 from the water so that it greatly reduces co2 production. I don't know how practical this is at this time, its in the early stages but advancements are being made.

I have looked into it and it gets mixed reviews, it seems more pushing to sell then giving real data on it. I believe it would work, but not as good as the claims are. I'm also looking into getting a tubro changer, these things really need computers to make good use of them with newer autos. That one of the things I'm worried about most, the natural gas kits have their only computers to run them right.
