Hard to figure out some points brought up, like: making a big newsworthy event like this and in the manner that she did informal setting at her Wasilla home on a friday on a weekend during a major holiday knowing all the media attention on MJ raises concerns (suspicions) as to why she made the announcement when she made it. So much, in fact, that the FBI has come out to state that she is not under investigation to silence and quell all the rumors. This was a very unusual step for the FBI to comment on anything it is doing - the simple fact that they made a statement. But, even the person who is replacing Palin has suggested that the reason she is quitting is most likely due to all the ethics complaints against her and how much she is costing the state of Alaska. At the news conference, Ms. Palin cited numerous reasons for quitting, including more than $500,000 in legal fees that she and her husband, Todd, have incurred because of 15 ethics complaints filed against her during her two and a half years as governor. She said all of the complaints had been dismissed, but she still had to pay lawyers to defend her. “I think what I heard from the governor,” Mr. Parnell said on “Fox News Sunday,” “really had to do with the weight on her, the concern she had for the cost of all the ethics investigations and the like — the way that that weighed on her with respect to her inability to just move forward Alaska’s agenda on behalf of Alaskans in the current context of the environment. So that’s what I saw.” Mr. Parnell, who is scheduled to take over for Ms. Palin on July 26, said it was costing the State of Alaska about $2 million just to pay for the staff to deal with the records requests from the ethics complaints. Conjecture? | |

Country: | Your dreaming if you think she can still run for president... she just effectively went AWOL and she proved she can't be trusted or take the heat of high office. Even if right wing cuckoos still wanted her she would be effectively bludgeoned and shot down by her opponents for this one move alone. Judging from her character I bet she is just going to cash in by riding the wave of her hyped up fame without having to take the pressure of a high level Govt job. She has been a marketing machine since she came out of the gate, always seeking the spotlight etc...ad nauseam... Parting message to Palin: later freak ![]() |

Country: | Actually I don't worry to much about Palin or any other prospective candiate right now. What concerns me in her case is the bias from the media. We've got enough to worry about with the kooks in the White House and Congress. |

John answer me a question..... Why even respond to this thread if Palin is nothing but a two bit politician and not a threat to the anointed one? Quote:
Fox gets under your skin doesn't it??? Let me guess what new station that you listen to....MSNBC After all no one is allowed to criticize Barack Obama or his policies? The chosen one makes no mistakes.

BTW: just FYI (not as a criticism), the expression is "toe the line", not "tow the line".

I personally think that Barack Obama was and still is unprepared for the job he currently holds.

Country: | I hardly think anyone was prepared to tackle the mess Bush left us. Including McCain. Just imagine the mountains of intel and information not made public. Sure, the two front runners were getting daily briefings just like the president. Yet even in the days of the run up to the election, no one knew how deep some problems were. I think saying any one person is prepared to handle this job is laughable at best. In no time in American History has anyone been faced with so many collapsing industries. |

http://www.amazon.com/JudyPatrick-Ph.../dp/B001HWKAVE Raising the sales tax in Wasilla to build a sports complex that caused years of litigation and loses money every year is not "conservative", but feel free to define words how you'd like (or spell them, including "Sarah"). There have been plenty of Republican politicians who have been women, and with whom I disagree but can certainly respect as having actual subtance - e.g. Liddy Dole, Nancy Kassebaum, Olympia Snowe, and quite a few others. I'm devastated that by saying "Thanks, but no thanks" to her oath of office, and spitting on everyone who supported her and worked to put her into that office, Ms. Palin has diminished her chances of a repeat performance of her hilarious national candidacy. BD, you and every other Republican you can find in your mother's basement or wherever, needs to do everything humanly possible to make sure she is the top of the ticket candidate next time around.

Country: | Sarah Palin is less equipped for the limelight than Susan Boyle. My hands actually sweat every time she's interviewed, it's like watching a blind man play basketball. As far as her resignation is concerned, I'm inclined to think she's either had a nervous breakdown, or is right on the verge of having one. God have mercy on her and her family if she somehow limps into a presidential run.
