    Let me get this straight...

You made a comment, I quoted you and pointed out that your comment (regarding bowing) was not entirely correct, and in the end I am a dork.

    Jeez, that really hurts.

Hell, the same old gang spouting the same old stuff! You lot must really get out more into the real world.

I am now adding 4 members to my 'ignore' list as I am sick to death of the absolute twaddle they post and the waste of my time reading such claptrap. Oh, and top of the list has to be 'Raider', who undoubtedly is more interested in politics than domaining. Goodbye Raider, never to read another one of your idiotic posts again will be a blessing.

I came across this story just now, its funny how after I start this thread, news corporations print exactly what I experienced.

Rev. Franklin Graham is leading a "disinformation campaign" against President Obama by attacking Obama's Christian faith and distorting Islam's theology, says a leading religion professor. After CNN's John King gave Graham a full news cycle to raise a lifted eyebrow at President Obama's Christian profession of faith, Stephen Prothero, religion professor at Boston University, came on King's show Friday night to undercut Graham and question why CNN would ask an evangelist known to slur Islam, to speculate on its theology.
According to a transcript released by CNN, Prothero, author of God is Not One: The Eight Rival Religions That Run the World, told King, the finding in a recent survey that 18% of Americans believe Obama is Muslim ...
... is because we have people who are supposed to be responsible public leaders, like Franklin Graham, who are spreading what seems to me like a sort of disinformation campaign... What Franklin Graham should say: 'Barack Obama says he's a Christian, he's a Christian, end of story.'
Prothero also pointed out that Obama prayed with Franklin and his father, America's most famous living evangelist, Rev. Billy Graham, in May but Franklin still repeatedly used the "if" word to answer King's questions Thursday on whether Obama has accepted Christ.
    Prothero said:
Franklin Graham doesn't seem to be interested in focusing on preaching the gospel of -- of Jesus. He wants to be spreading misinformation about the religion of Islam.
... Why are we listening to Franklin Graham?

Church and state issues underlie the current fracus over President' Obama's religious identity.

Prothero, who also wrote a book on Americans' ignorance about their own faith traditions as well as those of others (Religious Literacy: What Every American Needs to Know -- And Doesn't) told King,
.. it doesn't help the conversation we need to have as a public about Islam to be having people who are just basically spreading falsehoods about the tradition.
We should be listening to Muslims about their tradition. We should be listening to scholars about their tradition. But we shouldn't be listening to Evangelical preachers who are out to trash the Muslim religion in order to gain some political and perhaps religious advantage.
Prothero also pounced on Graham for cherry-picking quotes from the Quran that highlight violence. (In U.S. Protestant culture, picking quotes out of context from the Bible to prove a point is called "proof-texting."). Prothero highlighted
... shared beliefs and practices across Christianity and Islam. And we shouldn't be talking about the worst of the tradition of Islam and comparing it with the best of the tradition of Christianity.
When Jesus says, "I come not to bring peace, but a sword," is it fair to say, oh, Jesus is out to kill people?
No, because you read that in the context of the whole Bible. You read that in the context of the Christian tradition. That's how you need to understand passages in the Quran, is in the context of the whole Quran and in the context of the whole Islamic tradition.

It's nice to finally see you return to the Political section after all these years, When we was the last time we saw you here BillBo-Bama? OH yeah! The 2008 campaign, How can we forget about your prediction threads? the ones where you predicted the future of America under Obama.

    Oh, here's one of them now;

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama earned his lowest marks ever on his handling of the economy in a new Associated Press-GfK poll, which also found that an overwhelming majority of Americans now describe the nation's financial outlook as poor. MORE >>>

We all know what a hardcore supporter you were of Obama during the Campaign, You were one of those Blind Mice who took Obama at his every word, A gullible star struck Obama supporter who beleived he was going to solve all our problems and make the world a better place, And you believed it based on what again? Oh yeah; "Campaign Rhetoric" That script to the Presidency, which we now all know was a script of LIES and Deceit.

So now after nearly 2 years, you return to this section, Not participation in Political discussion, but preaching that's it's better to focus on domaining than Politics, But you had NO problem back then discussing politics because nobody could prove you wrong about what a "Human Wrecking Ball" Obama would make as President, right? Now that Obama has proven to be a complete FAILURE, our DNF crybaby doesn't want to discuss it.

He now want's to plug his ears of the FACTS that prove how WRONG he was 2 years ago..... I should of realized I was pouring salt into your wounds, I'm real sorry about that BillBo-Bama.

Go ahead, Put everybody you disagree with on "Ignore"

And the people you DO agree with.. Keep on reading those posts, Keep on living the LIE.

Interesting thread. Hadn't been on here in a while and saw this and it peaked my interest.

    ..........

I'm glad I'm blessed by God to know that religion is destroying us as a civilization. GOD would never use humans to spread religion, GOD shares wisdom thats all. We have taken that wisdom and turned it into a war game.
I've seem much of this too, and quite a bit coming from own family members who happen to be right-wing Christians that watch Fox News. They think Obama is the Anti-christ and 2012 marks the end of the world. WOW, it's really disturbing for me to hear this crap coming from people who claim to be washed in the blood of the Lamb and try to follow in the footsteps of Christ.

We must consider that many people are easily manipulated and remain passive recipients of information that is spoon fed to them. Apples never fall far from the tree and people in all walks of life are socially conditioned by their surroundings. So if the tree watches Fox news and buys into that type of perception of the rest of the world, it's fruit, the apple, will most likely also lean that way. People don't realize just how much they are manipulated by their perception of the world, religion, other people etc etc. and how much of their beliefs have been handed down to them.

Take any right-wing Christian fanatic and go back in time and place them to be born in a Chinese family that is Buddhist or a Afghan family that is Muslim, all of the sudden, they will be socially conditioned to believe something different than what they believe now. So it's essentially the luck of the draw as to where you were born and your surroundings. Then we get to the point,... OK, then what is right and what is wrong, who's god or what god is the only God because man proclaim to know the truth but fail to realize the larger picture of it all and the interconnectedness we all have being human in this world.

Seriously? Are you saying people don't believe lies? People watch what makes them feel good according to their perception of the world around them which is shaped and formed since early child hood. Doesn't matter if it's lies or not. Fox News has agendas and that is overwhelmingly apparent to me.

Labeling anything or anyone that goes against it as "evil", "sinful" or "corrupt" and then be naive to the fact that there is a whole world out there with different experiences, lives, viewpoints, cultures, etc, being unwilling to respect that while demanding it, sometimes violently, for themselves. It's happened since the beginning of time.

...Yet I wouldn't totally blame "religion"...it's the people who abuse religion and those who follow with blind faith (the blind faith that is too afraid to ask questions, inspect and gain real understanding) but rather follow the word of a handful of mortals who claim to accurately represent the infallible word of God.
Amen to that NameHoney! I agree with everything here you've said and it's nice to meet someone who see's past their nose.

Fear is a key word here. People are controlled by it completely... all the way down to physiology, health, poverty, whatever. Biologically when a body is in a state of fear, cells within the body tighten up and cease to produce or communicate productively. Likewise this is what happens with people. When there is a perceived fear, and it's believed, it can be used to stifle and control people and government has used it for years and it's also pumped out through the media and news. Fear stops all growth. Most of our decisions are made out of fear.. important decisions, life changing decisions. Fear creates imbalance. Fear creates that which we fear the most.

Going a little deeper into understanding
I'd like to add further that understanding science and biology has much to do with all of this yet the science of man is the least known of all the sciences. Biologically, we are but a conglomeration of cells which are ultimately energy or electric waves... 50 trillion or so and each of the cells in our body have the same systems as we do, including and endocrine system, nervous system etc etc. These cells within the human body have long been thought to be controlled by a command center which science has believe for many years to be the nucleus. However, science is wrong. Cells within a body, their command center is perception. Perception being the only thing that you and I can control and outside of that we control nothing.

So, back to social conditioning, our perception of the world around us, conditioned by how we were raised, what church we attended, our parents belief systems, etc etc. all forms our perception of religion, war, news, love, hate... the list goes on. Likewise, biologically if a person believes or fears they will have cancer because cancer has been present in their family for years, this type of perception will create a fear of cancer and ironically we produce the effects we fear the most. In biology, the signal of fear sent to the cells, (Community) will release the protein surrounding this part of the DNA strand and produce it's counterpart, the RNA copy and your body will go to work to reflect your perception... as in a placebo effect. Whether it's there or not, our thoughts and perception will create that which we fear or the signals sent into our bodies to the cells within our body.

It's the same way in government and the body of the world. If you can manipulate people's perception you can maintain control by use of fear. News is a good example of this. They take one instance and explode it with possibilities and in the case of Fox News, they feed on fear and from my understanding, try to create more fear. Religion does the same thing.

There are many a problems in the world today and we're creating all of them. I don't think we realize that our perception, however twisted they may be, creates a reflection and when you can get many people to hold on to a fear or perception, the reflection is inevitable. Maybe this will shed some light on the state of our world.

Anyway, I sort of rambled on here and maybe some will understand it, others may not but the bottom line is there is one thing within our control and collectively I hope more people will come to realize that our perception ultimately controls our reflection and we are living in the reflection of our collective perception.... if that makes sense to any of you.

Back to the subject. I personally don't think Obama is a bad guy at all. I think he stepped into a rough situation and he's doing the best he can. For those who think Obama is in control of this US, don't kid yourself. BP, big oil, big money, greed, and power controls the US, not Obama, he's just a pawn in this game of chess being played on a much larger scale with a few and limited number of participants.

I've had my rant for the day! Don't be disappointed if I don't respond to arguments over this because I don't want or desire to argue. Just want to see people, collectively, wake up and realize how interconnected we all are in one body of this universe. Our divisions like religion are man-made perceptions and dogmas that destroy more than they unite and are divisive and full of condemnation and judgment and this hurts everyone. When we hurt someone else, we're hurting ourselves.

Pissed off voters ignored that fact that Obama was just simply not qualified and too inexperienced for the Presidency.
And to compound his shortfalls, he surrounded himself (for the most part) with key appointments of other equally inexperienced cabinet members. Things will only get worse for him come November elections.

Actually, Obama's worst fault is that he continued the Bush policy of bailouts, and even KEPT many of Bush's people. Funny how Raider comes here to argue against the very some policy she supported under Bush!

Once again, The Daily Show did a hilarious episode this week, try to catch a rebroadcast if you can.

Fox stations have this crazy guy names Glen Beck who uses a chaulkboard to cook up the most moronic conspiracy theories, complete with flailing arms, crying, and all of the usual nonsense you would expect from a mental patient. The Daily Show showed several clips of him doing these very complicated charts, trying to show connections between various people based mostly on rumor, innuendo, and stuff he just made up. A lot of it his his complaining about 'liberal media' donating money to political groups.

Then the pay a 5 second statement where Fox says 'Newscorp has donated $1 million the Republican Party'. Newscorp owns Fox News. Cut to Stewart, dressed like Beck, swinging arms and mocking him... then turns over his chaulkboard to show just 1 big arrow:

FOX NEWS => $1 million => Republican Party

    HILARIOUS!

Hmm, some one else "gets it".

In less than 6 months, Bush raised the national debt ceiling twice. In his last three months, Bush raised it by 3 Trillion Dollars. But the time Bush actually left office, that latest round of raises had nearly been eclipsed. Congress was tasked with raising it again in early 2009 to account for the new shortfall.

As for the bailout policies started under Bush and continued upon his departure, all one has to do is read the Paulson Plan to take into account the verbiage authorizing payouts (bailouts) in the amount of $700 Billion "at a time" to reach the new debt ceiling of $11.3 Trillion (up from 8.9T) passed in September 08. That ceiling was nearly eclipsed ($10.7 Trillion) in January 09. So, even before Obama was sworn in, the Bush administration had spent nearly $3 Trillion in 3 Months.

This was the same administration who would not utter the "r-word" - Recession.

Sec. 6. Maximum Amount of Authorized Purchases.

The Secretary's authority to purchase mortgage-related assets under this Act shall be limited to $700,000,000,000 outstanding at any one time

Sec. 10. Increase in Statutory Limit on the Public Debt.

Subsection (b) of section 3101 of title 31, United States Code, is amended by striking out the dollar limitation contained in such subsection and inserting in lieu thereof $11,315,000,000,000.

So, the previous administration burns through $1trillion a month. But yet the current administration is condemned for spending any amount or increasing any ceiling?

The GOP is praying that the American people are stupid and have short-term memory. Praying? Hell, they're preaching it daily in attempts to convince the US populace that the current administration is evil.

Why aren't more people in jail over this?

    Sec. 8. Review.

Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.
