Its a stupid quote that can only come from the land of make believe. The US is a republic not a democracy. Look it up.
As to having topless beaches in Venice Beach. Put it up for referendum. The idea that its about gender equality is a big ****ing joke.
in ontario its legal for women to be topless anywhere (well except inside a store or whatever) but you pretty much never see any women doing it.
Of course the US is a republic. Think even the land of make believe doesn't know that? Especially writers as brilliant as those on L&O? But we all use the term democracy. Imagine for a second that foreign nations heard statesmen, politicians and Americans themselves referring to themselves as a Republic. While that is simply the truth, it would only add fuel to the global rogue states that already decry the US as the ultimate "democracy". NH, I don't think going topless would be considered as "nude" since the argument here is that the men walk around bare chested and women should be able to do same.
